It’s the Laguna 14-12. Yeah, the resaw capacity is nice. That’s one of the reasons I went with it.

I’ve heard good and band stuff about the Rikons. For me it was between those two and a beefed up Grizzly. The laguna has worked well and is a stout machine.

Since I was distressing it I went with the cheapest 1x wood I could find. I think it was common whitewood or something. Some sort of pine. Good luck!

I have a beam that is 20’ long made out of 1by10’s not really to heavy to move around but way too heavy for one or two men to lift up say 8-10 foot. Do you have any ideas to get it up without breaking our backs? Thanks

Hello I'm trying to find the video of the fireplace mantle. I believe you made it I'm actually getting ideas how to put wood planks on my new construction wall. If I remember correctly you used underlayment painted black to hide and cracks or holes. Just making sure I'm right before I start . Thank you for the videos they help alot.

A Modern Maker no problem I apologize for any confusion I may be confusing you with another video I had seen these videos or KZbin or great there's a lot of teaching one of them you may or may not know the answer for what I'm looking for but here goes I am building a new house in in between the kitchen and living room on that wall which goes up to cathedral ceiling I want to put reclaimed wood or some other type on there as my accent wall. So I see plenty of videos showing how to put the wood on the wall but I have not seen any that shows how to put it on a wall that has no drywall on it just the studs so I'm wondering if I should put underlayment on the wall and paint it black so when I put the wood on it whatever I pick out I have not only something to mount the wood 2 other than the studs it will hide any imperfection of the wood cracks holes or whatever so you can't see through it.. I know I just said a lot I hope that makes more sense.

I get what you’re saying now. I guess it depends on if you would plan on mounting any of the wood strips to that wood or not. If you could mount to just the studs it might be easier to use a black house wrap type paper to black out the gaps.

That would work I did not even think about black paper on the other side of the wall I will have drywall but like I said I just was not sure if I should use underlay or that would just be an extra expense that I really don't need studs are on 16 inch centers hey I appreciate the input and I watch your videos they're great because I'm trying to get into wood work thank you again

Awesome mantel! Was that polyurethane you were putting on that had the blue tinge to it? And I may have missed it. Why did u epoxy the round pieces on? Keep up the cool builds

+Gardners Garage Workshop Yeah, it was a water based poly by General Finishes. I didn't actually epoxy anything on, but was trying to show where to add epoxy for a semi-permanent mount. The bracket attaches to the wall, the round pieces slide onto the mount, add epoxy to the tops of those pieces, then put the mantle on top. This way, you can attach the mount to the studs and get the mantle perfectly centered. Now, the mantle is epoxied to those pieces and can still slide on and off if needed.
