Building a SHIP from PLANKS in Teardown! Will it work?

So last time in Teardown we created a bridge out of wooden planks. This time I wanted to see if I can use planks to turn a boat into a ship in Teardown. Planks float, and so do boats, so combining the two should work right? Can you build a pirate ship in Teardown? Are planks good for engineering structures? We will find out in this episode! Since they have the "lift" mechanic, and it obviously elevates you slightly on the water, the logical thing to do would be to attempt building a flying machine.

That would be cool but I tried to make a helicopter looking thing in the game and it gets heavy fast so its hard to lift it off the ground kind of like how he couldn't get out of the water with his raft.

Any wood planks you have above the water add to the weight, not the buoyancy. In theory because there isn't a drag you should be able to make a hydro sail. BTW wood planks burn rather quickly so it might be fun to set your creation on fire.

The speedy raft thing is also in Skyrim, but instead of standing on planks, you stand on a corpse! I used to make a game out of seeing how long I could "sled" on the corpse before falling off 😆

I've been using this trick for quite a bit, but here's a tip. Make a board off the ground amd break if off said ground, put a plank on the plank amd stand on them while grabbing the first plank... and you are now on the other side of the map. TLDR If you grab a plank attached to a plank while standing on them you hit terminal velocity

You should use the big yacht to build a plank oil tanker

In the game Stormworks you can design your own ships from scratch, and it uses actual buoyancy modeling to determine how it floats. You design the propulsion layout and electrical systems too. Drawback is that it's not a destructable-voxel world, and there's not even physical deformation of boats upon damaging, just decals/fire iirc. It's still neat though; I made a pretty realistic and functional oil tanker... and then attached jet engines to it and made it fly. (The aerodynamic modeling isn't all that realistic either).

If you stack 2 planks on top of each other ( in order to make it not fall through the map place it on a wall let it fall and break the top) than you put the other plank on it stand on it, once you grab it and lift your camera (only a little) you will start to fly

try making a simple plank plane becuase i've made those many times and this is what you do step 1:make an angled plank on something that doesn't get broken from a sledge hammer like bricks or metal step 2:make a flat plank connected to the other plank and break off the connected planks edge step 3:grab the angled plank by the tip and lift up and you will fly across the map
