No talking, building an entire small off grid cabin from start to finish using a sawmill by hand. The FULL BUILD can be seen here: www.youtube.co...?list=PLDg2Qmw9pKidP83tB6L6rQieRe7bdS8K6
We are now working on the outhouse: • Building Outhouse at O...
Norwood Portable Sawmill: www.norwoodsaw...
We show everything from setting and digging the pillars, cutting the 2x4's, ripping siding, cutting roof trusses, installing the metal roof, installing windows, chimney, wood stove, decking and building the front door.
We use a Norwood hd36 portable sawmill to make nearly all the materials for this build from locally sourced timbers.
We use ash, cedar, and pine for most of the structure and siding.

Please follow along with the full playlist in order to understand the full construction of the tiny cabin.
In this series we use materials around us to construct a small forest cabin.
We'll use cedar, pine, ash, maple, and whatever else we can scrounge up from the 30 acres around us. The aim is to avoid using as much store bought material as possible and keep the budget reasonably low.
Originally we set a budget of $1000, but that included the use of a frame from an old camper trailer. As we build, the budget will remain flexible in effort to produce a cabin that we are proud of and one that will last a long while, be comfortable, and sleep real human beings.

We've never built anything ever, but decided to follow your model and build our cabin (9x12 with wraparound porch and mezzanine) during the winter of the pandemic. We used commercial lumber for the main construction but used fallen trees as much as possible. We created our own planks with a chainsaw from dead ash trees as well as produced our own cedar shakes with a froe from dead cedars. Thanks so much for your inspiration! Wish we could send you a photo with the result.

What a time to be alive and experience a building video such as that. Thank you for documenting (and editing) your time spent with family/friends/colleagues during this project, I was captivated the whole time. I feel like a tiny home is in my future, and stuff like this makes it feel so much more possible, seeing all those steps and how surprisingly simple or straightforward it is to accomplish, though not without hard work and persistence. Looking forward to what's next!

People have been cutting off cars to make trucks, since shortly after cars were invented. There is a 1932 five window Model A coupe with the rumble seat removed to add in an early 1930s Ford truck box, in a junkyard in Marquette County, Michigan.

I actually enjoyed every minute of this even though I will probably never build a cabin. I was actually sewing a project while watching this video because I can do two things at a time. LOL I love watching things being built. I used to watch my father build things when I was a child. The snow kind of took me back to Maine where I grew up. I love the smell of sawdust. I have a small woodworking shop where I do small projects. I learned a lot from this video about the animals, recycling, as well as woodworking and I like how you handled the negative commenters who offer no contribution whatsoever. I get that too on some of my DIY KZbin projects. On the same video I can get lots of praise but there will always be those who want to educate me and tell me everything I did wrong and how my videos can be better. At least some people can do that in a nicer way. I think I will adopt your policy of ignoring those unkind and rude commenters as well. This was really fun to watch. Oh, and they guy cooking his egg - I was actually impressed how well he flipped that egg in such a small skillet. He’s got skills. Mine would have flopped onto the floor.

It look fantastic, but can you show us how it looks inside until its finished? Did you place something inside under the tin roof, heavy raindrops will be loud i think. But anyway, thank you for the great video, just (team) working, no talking. Great.

this must be the coldest cabin ever, no insulation, straight wood paneling and a single wood burner. That's something

They insulate in another video. Search. The jury is still out on if that is enough wood stove or not.

I definitely would have gotten a bigger stove. It isn't much fun to use a cabin without a good stove.

Many in the comments think the stove is too big. That’s not what I’ve seen.

Love the land and snow!!!! Beautiful spot for a cabin. I would love one just like it. U guys hire out lol???? Should have saved some of that left over wood from the trees for the wood stove instead of burning it.

I’m curious how the cabin is lasting now. I’m wanting to build something similar but am also wondering about using freshly milled logs for construction. Have you had many problems with it twisting and cracking?

I'm just wondering about the moisture content, you can go back in a couple of years and it will have Twisted into something that looks like something a Doctor Seuss designed.

Liam Ryan , :). For artistic measure, yeah, that’d be neat. OR, maybe the foundation logs are so burly that it kept everything semi-in place? Be neat to see.
