This is the FIRST cabin that I have seen built with Dovetails! Those dovetails are fine-furniture quality. Amazing! I like how the square logs are flush tight, and also how you put insulation in as each 'log' is laid. Oh yes, WHAT a back yard!!!!!

an excellent book if you are considering building a shed. While you may not choose to build one exactly as shown in this book kzbin.infoUgkxT9ExVpR-3A-9rpRqx8vzXKZ3BMMTg_KH , the information found in here would be useful in any shed building project. The information is well presented, with color photos throughout. As was noted in a previous review, though some dimensions are given, the complete plans must be ordered elsewhere. I ordered the plans for the gambrel shed and did notice a few discrepancies between the book and plans however.

It is better to spray the walls with ecological resin diluted with some slow-burning thinner, e.g. primus oil. Kerosene quickly 1 - soaks up 2 - dries up 3 - quickly loses its pleasant smell. You can also spray with a mixture of: coniferous resin + added beeswax or paraffin / stearin dissolved also with natural refined turpentine from resin. It quickly soaks into the unevenness and pores of the wood, dragging the resin + the listed additives behind it, its smell is really pleasant and the thin layer of dried resin will effectively protect the beams against moisture ... You need to remember about personal safety (mask with a vapor absorber) and fire safety, and clothing should be made of natural fibers.
@Galileon1
@Galileon1 3 жыл бұрын
@@FinnishPlayground The best and most practical thing to do is to impregnate the beams and boards before embedding them in the building, then they are thoroughly treated with a preservative on all sides. Then, any side walls can be painted with a brush. It works - but with kerosene as a thinner for resins, wax or paraffin !! - also against insects that dig and eat wood from the inside, which can destroy the entire construction effort in a few seasons.

Coming from a "Daddy's girl" who knows & understands the true craftsmanship of a carpenter, I spent many days on the job sites with my dad. I am so impressed by the attention to detail of the dove tail, the tongue & groove, the handcrafted pegs, door jam, window frames etc. (no prefab)... watching this brought back the smell of sawdust and wood shavings! Actually brought tears to my eyes remembering how my father did things! He's now in his 80's with Parkinson's, so just watching this brought back some wonderful memories! Thanks for all your dedication, craftsmanship & talent, but most of all thanks for sharing! Loved it!

I can’t believe I’ve invested about 200 hours in two years watching different videos on how to build a log cabin most of them was just a waste of my time this one taught me exactly what to do in a short period of time son you made a masterpiece here every second of this video was helpful there was no bullshit or trivial stuff included I want to thank you from the bottom my heart for teaching me how to build a log cabin

Great video . Great job. These are incredible skills developed over a long period of time. Almost anybody can learn this but it will definitely take patience and dedication. Unfortunately Something many people no longer possess . To have skills with your hands it is the most important thing in the world to me. I was a master plumber for 26 years and I knew a lot about my trade but there was and is always so much more to learn this footage was fascinating and shows how dedication pays off
