It also allows for me to have a central location for all my of my home automations. The steps Google and Amazon have been taking are starting to push that smart hub requirement out the window. One thing to be concerned about when adding a smart thermostat, is that not all heating systems will work with them and you can damage the electronics on your furnace if you connect one up to them. I have a multistage Carrier Infinity brand furnace that uses a digital signal to talk with the thermostat rather than just the DC voltage. You can usually tell if you have one like this if the wires for the thermostat are labeled ABCD.

Yes, but it’s better than rebuying all your devices because a manufacturer killed the cloud integrations for their hub, or because the manufacturer doesn’t have the integrations you want. What I would like the routine to do is when I am ready to take a shower, I would like for the light to stay on for at least 15 minutes or longer. When I'm in the shower the light keeps going out after one minute, and I must constantly wave my hands to trigger the motion detector to get the light to turn back on while I am in the shower. Is there a way that I can create a routine to trigger the light for the light to stay on while I am in the shower for at least 15 minutes or longer.

When you have a lot of smart devices in your home, could getting a mesh wifi system help keep your wifi strong around the home? I added about 22 smart devices around my home from the Google ecosystem of devices and it seems like the wifi in pretty much all the rooms has gone down the drain (with the exception of the room with the Modem in it). @ormondflyer3 жыл бұрын
This appears to be a major headache as a lot of the smart devices require to be on 2.4ghz and are incapable of talking to the 5ghz freq. So that’s the warning. For you, if you want to try and solve this , you’re going to need to log into your router controls and turn of the 5ghz while you do the set up, then go back into your router controls when the set up is complete and turn back on the 5ghz. Pain in the you know where, especially as some of the router interfaces do not make it easy or straightforward to turn on and off the different frequencies. Hope you get it sorted.

Homekit is by far the better of the 3 IMO has more advanced features such as automations and now thread support. Also Sonos is actually in fact compatible with homekit and airplay 2 which again is much more advance then casting with either Alexa or google.

HomeKit it trash compared to Alexa and google routines haha. It’s so far behind But maybe they will catch up and charge us 10x more lol
@jeremytodd53403 жыл бұрын
@@SpaceStrike It’s one thing to not be a fan it’s another to be uneducated. They all have there plus and minus. However where is googles sensor support? Where is alexas thread support? HomeKit combines all in to one app no need to go to other apps everything is updated in one app! Homekit automations are far more advanced then routines sorry to say! HomeKit is a secure platform Alexa and google are assistants. HomePod mini has the U1 chip which supports thread which is a game changer so while your telling Alexa and good to turn on the light and 15 seconds later they come on Siri has turned them on and off and on again by that time. More accessories avail on Alexa and google yes but why do you think that is? Less security they wanna push they don’t care about privacy especially Amazon . And for the record apple HomeKit products are on the rise and are catching up quickly. Over priced nah just a more quality product.
@SpaceStrike3 жыл бұрын
@@jeremytodd5340 whoa there. Apple is on no way more “private” than Alexa or google. More devices doesn’t mean that it’s less secure, it just means they dont charge an insane premium for their name to be on the box. Thread is nothing special. My smart home with 20+ devices(all WiFi) work perfect and have no issues. But in Apple HomeKit, can you get a camera to automatically show up on your tv(a firestick)? And apple requires you to have a hub from one of their devices to even set up a smart home. With google, you can start a smart home even with your phone. I’m not saying apple doesn’t have a few better things, but I’m saying as always apple products are more expensive and are a little behind
@jeremytodd53403 жыл бұрын
@@SpaceStrike I agree with some of what’s your saying but actually yes cameras show up on my tv and so doe my doorbell. I disagree with the security you are talking about I did not mean because they have more products they are less secure but the security process is a lot different for apple that’s why there are less products. Amazon and google are more universal yes but even google home is better with a android phone! I’ve used all three and I have far more then 50 smart home devices all running smooth as can be. Thread actually is a big deal and you will see all 3 using it very soon. Have you ever even attempted to use HomeKit? I’m going to guess no! Do you know the benefit to having a main hub? Do you know the benefit to thread? I prefer iOS over android when I was using google home I could not view cameras via the goggle home app from my phone had to open the native cam app separately! What’s the point when I can have a all in one platform that supports secure video playback at no charge and facial recognition. You keep bringing up expensive but again HomeKit is a actual platform. Google and Alexa are merely assistants that’s it there is a difference. Let’s just agree to disagree. I respect your opinion.
