Custom light seat rail looks so good! Usually what people do in Japan is shortening the base of the OEM rails seats feet and then welding them back together so it’s lower to the ground, saving a few precious centimeters for the helmet and for the knees under the steering wheel. Nice video! I own a 206 gti por track use and I was thinking about reducing unnecesary weight too, 47 kg is a great number! The main problem I see here is that all this weight is in the rear of the car, which is already the lighter, so it would make the car even more "oversteerer". It would be nice to move the battery back, delete de a/c compressor, lightweight pulleys and if its possible light weight flywheel in order to balance the car better.
@ejoautovideos2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes you are absolutely right, I have already noticed a lot of lift of oversteer just from my quick test drive. I'll try my best to reduce some weight in the front, for example buy a light weight battery, trim excessive material from brackets etc. Also I will replace the transmission and flywheel to a lighter one. I think that will help too 👍

Ok, you got me subscribed. But please reroute the seatbelt, I'm not sure that it's any good through the shoulder holes. Also, it's totally ok to fix a 4-point to the rear seatbelt points, as far as I know in the UK regulations that's allowed. I'm using them like this for years and kept us safe when we got rear ended.

Hiya, just a quick tip for you to do some research on. There was another guy in my country (UK) and he was building a racing Micra, he swapped the gearbox and said because of the ratios it dramatically improved the acceleration. Unfortunately I can't remember who it was, though he was an Asian dude and I can't remember what gearbox/engine combination he had, but it would be worth a search up if you wanted to increase the acceleration for fairly cheap.

I enjoyed the videos very much. FROM "Restoring Engine Bay...." video: Regarding the heat shield for the exhaust, would you also consider using a penetrating oil on the three bolts? The popular penetrating oil that has the long red straw is what I have. I intend to bend the straw around the back of the shield in order to try to spray the bolt, and do what I can to treat the bolt head from the outside. And let it soak for 24 hours. Just so I can avoid drilling out the bolt if it has rusted badly. I guess the exhaust manifold will smoke and smell bad for a while - but wouldn't it eventually burn off and not be a factor? Do you still remember the size of the bolt you replaced, by chance? I'm doing something similar. With the same mindset actually. I did an AC delete and moved the alternator. The brackets for the ALT were very rusty and I sanded and painted them - came out great. Mange takk in advance.
@ejoautovideos Жыл бұрын
Penetrating oil and brushing away loose rust is always a good idea. However, in that case it didn't do much because the head of the bolts seals of the threads, so in that case heat is your best friend. The bolt size is normal M6 thread if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you for your comment. 😊 No, the inside will rust very slowely, it will take a very very long time before there would be any structual rust to worry about. However I did coat the inside of the tubing with rust protecting fluid film because I'm OCD😂, so nothing to worry about! 👍
@EK_89_7 Жыл бұрын
@@ejoautovideos Good to know, I'm an OCD too. I work as a mechanical engineer here in Germany. In 2015 we built a prototype of a new machine. So we showed it to our potentially customers and one of them said, hey, is it a new machine? There are rust spots everywhere! And parts of the main frame were also build of tubes. So, since that moment, I'm too sensitive considering rust 😅 But I also believe, OCD is a kind of a normal thing for people working in craft...
