Looking really slick there!! A couple of mods I would suggest though. If you moved the fan speed knobs to the outside of the case and then put a temperature sensor inside and an led display on the outside, you will be able to see the temperature without having to open the case and control the fan speeds to control the heat a whole lot easier.
@Rok_Satanas6 ай бұрын
Or get a a fan contoller with temperature sensor and have it do it automatically. To be honest his airflow is terrible. The "outlet" fans are heavily obstracted by the battery. And his "inlet" fans are fighting with the airflos of the centrifugal fans he added. Would be curious to see a smoke test.

For whatever reason batteries voltage is stated at whatever the lowest “still safe to use” level of charge will be. Or I think that’s why it’s labeled like that, I use 3.7v li-ions all the time and they sit at 4.2v fully charged and then all my devices safety cut offs are at 3.7or 3.8v. I’m pretty sure most 12v sit between 13ish and 14ish volts fully charged so yours was spot on. Also good job dude I’ve seen “professionally” made pelican case PC’s that were nowhere near this well done.

Nice build! Just a word for the future though. You never want to cool the hot end of heat pipes or vapor chambers. They stop functioning if you do that as they rely on the differential of heat from one side to the other to carry the heat properly and have the vapor return from the cold side to hot side properly as well. Stack as much cooling on the cold side as possible and leave the hot side hot, it will cool much better.

I built something like this for my kid back in ps2 days for road trips and all the camping we did. I used a metal tool case from harbor freight, ps2, 4" color monitor, portable DVD player and ac/dc converter. Batteries weren't as advanced back then, so I ran it off 12v port in car/truck with converter or a car battery jump pack that I always carried in vehicle. I mounted monitor on inside of case lid and everything else fit inside to keep it inconspicuous to would be thieves. Thank you for your share. It got my brain juices flowing and might follow your plans for something new.

Cool content! Makes me glad i subscribed! Here's an idea for v2. Do your own battery (with a bms). They have tons of tutorials on youtube. You can buy used cells for relatively cheap. It'll also give you more flexibility for positioning and more power.
@QuietNerd7 ай бұрын
I was heavily debating doing that with some raw cells but I just went with convenience for the battery. Maby one day :D
@ericklein50976 ай бұрын
@@QuietNerd EVE just released their latest cells (MB30 and MB31). Nominal capacity is like 306Ah and 314Ah but they will give you 320 and 330 amp hours respectively. A 4S pack of those would last quite a long time. Maybe add a Victron 75/15 MPPT and a 200W portable panel. A 4kwh battery not too much larger than the 12V 100Ah off the shelf batteries with a small amount of solar input to lengthen the gaming time.

Really great build! Improvements I would suggest (or second, as maybe these have been suggested already.) 1. Yes, temp sensor with fan control. No need to adjust the fans if its automatic. Will always stay as quiet as possible. 2. As suggested before, the previous cut out cover could be used as a shade overhead screen. 3. Storage for controllers , charger, hdmi cable, headphones, etc inside the case. 4. Just one of those case fans should work fine. 2 on the same side if you want redundancy, but 4 of the same is a waste. As the volume of the 2 in is the same as the 2 out. There is no benefit to the exit fans. I would love to see your next version!! And is that battery too big? How is the weight?

Great Job.. it looks fantastic.. you could’ve put a little digital temperature indicator on your box so that you know where you want to set your fans. The only other thing I noticed is you needed to build a casing for the main fan on the PS five once it’s out of the case no longer has a shroud, that shroud should’ve been added so it could direct air from your external fans
