This was great! I had a good time watching you build her. Great video and fun to watch, not to mention inspiring as well. I have been running the Chattahoochee River here in north Georgia to go trout fishing for several years now in a Gheenoe that I have dearly loved, but I think it's time I built one for my upcoming river excursions. I may just have to follow your example. Thanks for the video! I hope you and the family have many years of enjoyment from this nice skiff.

I used a regular paint brush and Rust-Oleum Marine topside paint to paint the boat. I painted it just like you paint a simple wooden door, I did not use any spray paint etc. I'm going to use google translate and say the same thing in Portuguese, so excuse any grammatical errors. All the best :) Eu usei um pincel de pintura comum e uma pintura de topo de Rust-Oleum Marine para pintar o barco. Eu pintei-o assim como você pinta uma porta de madeira simples, eu não usei nenhuma tinta spray, etc.

How strong is this boat? If you hit a rock at low speed or run it on land to park it will it hurt it?
@dineshjos4 жыл бұрын
I haven't tested either running into a rock or land to failure point (To see the force at which it breaks) . we have used the boat to get on to islands in the middle of lakes and for that have had to run it on to land. Its unfazed by that. I think its strong enough for most normal usage scenarios. Not sure how many newtons of force per sq inch it would take to rupture the hull.

Awesome build and a gorgeous lookin boat. Just curious how well this design takes wakes from bigger boats, especially if taken broadside, and bigger water in general.
@dineshjos4 жыл бұрын
I have only used this in lakes so far . I wouldn't use it in open ocean water or very rough water. That being said it is very stable and have had no issues with bigger boats passing by when I am in it

engine seems little higher power... Do not run fast when you run alone....Have you used Fibreglass Woven Roving WR Mat 600 & 400 Gsm ? Rest is fine

I dont remember the actual fibre glass specs . I used fibre glass fabric for the inside and outside which is woven . For the seams I used fibre glass tape, essentially strips of fibreglass. 2 part epoxy for all glueing.

Hi, Did you use fiberglass mat or cloth ? How many layers ? Thank you
@dineshjos6 жыл бұрын
I used 6oz fiberglass cloth tape on all the seams inside and outside. The rest of the boat is fiberglassed on the inside and the outside using fiberglass cloth and two part epoxy. the v hull part has two layers of fibre glass cloth over lapped. Typically you can buy fibreglass cloth rolls in 6 - 8 feet width and 30 - 60 or more feet long. Since 8 feet wouldn't go across the entire bottom of the boat the overlap is around the v hull. Hope this helps.

can you please tell me what thickness of Ply did you used for boat's main body?
@dineshjos5 жыл бұрын
Hi I used 3/8”(9mm) okoume plywood for sides and bottom. If you use thicker sheets its very hard to get the smooth curve for the hull. If you go with thinner sheets its easier but make sure its strong enough to withstand the beating it will get on the water. I used fibreglass fabric on the inside and outside, it was an overkill. If you use thinner sheets make sure you use fibreglass on the inside and outside.

Amazing job, loved the video. I've been looking at different boat builds and settled on a tango skiff. I was thinking of going with the Tango 15 or 17. Do you have a rough idea on what the cost was? I am in Canada as well so just looking for a rough budget. Not including motor or trailer.
@dineshjos4 жыл бұрын
its been a couple of years since I built the boat so my numbers may be off. I think I spend about $1800 in all. The biggest cost is plywood and two part expoy . I used marine grade okumee plywood, you could go with a cheaper option. I also went overboard with the epoxy and fiber glass, you could save some on that. I used marine paint, regular paint is cheaper. I bought the hatches and fittings online, could have gotten em cheaper on eBay or craigslist . I had to buy some clamps and tools etc, I had/have very little tools so that cost me some money. I wanted the boat to be strong especially with kids in it so over engineered a lot of stuff. If I had to build it again I probably could do it cheaper, maybe $1200 or even lesser. Thank you for you comments and enjoy your boat build. Its certainly an enjoyable experience.
@arollofcukin24524 жыл бұрын
@@dineshjos Thank you very much for the thorough reply. I will probably build it similar to the way you did, and use quality material so the boat lasts that much longer. Thanks again!
