You made me do it! I watched and rewatched this video, until I decided to go for it. Drew up my plans, and built it. Made it as lightweight as I could to be able to attach it to my bicycle (2 retractable wheels on the transom) and launch it from the side of the river. What a great summer! Thanks for the inspiration!

Yeah looks good. I like the aggressive bow. It has dynamic lines balanced with simple design.

Just found this video. Very nice work. I thought my garage was small but yours makes mine look huge. Thank you for the video and the inspiration to get busy on my build.

Thanks. It was a bit of a squeeze building the boat out of a one car garage.

Sweet! Could use a hydrofoil on the motor to stop porpoising bringing the sharp end down a bit to stablize better. Great job, man! The 9.9 puts it on plane nicely!

Do you still have the plans for this build? I just recently learned about the designer’s passing after watching some of his videos here on youtube and clicking on his site. It is a shame, I would have loved to buy one of his plans to make a nice boat. My girlfriend and I are planning on building a 12’ boat this summer based on the Hannu’ Boatyard 12’ skiff design, but I like this design better. Looks more stable and a solid, stable build overall.

You built a great boat, which not anyone can do. I went for the diagram website, did not work. Are you eligible to share the plans over the google drive link in the video description?

Great looking craft and a superb build. I really like the way you faired out the bow section. About how long did the build take?
@buildingplywoodboats43963 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I had the hull built and fiberglassed in just over a month. The build slowed down after that while I was back in college. I would say that I had kept working at the same pace it would taken two months to get to the point where I'm at right now. I just installed a hatch in the front compartment, and I still have to finish the floor and paint the interior.

I plan to build this same boat. I noticed you put a piece on the transom to raise the motor up some. I plan on a 9.9 hp as well. Would you recommend not cutting down as much then? Also where did you get the plywood, there are a lot of options. I would love to chat with you about your build.
@buildingplywoodboats43963 жыл бұрын
I had to add that piece because my motor was too low. The transom was designed to be cut to 15" for a short shaft motor. My 9.9 Mercury is a short shaft, but it's 18" i believe. Definitely measure you outboard shaft, as you might not need to cut the transom at all. The 9.9 gets the boat up on plane with no issues. I wouldn't go with anything heavier then a 9.9 four stroke or 15hp two stroke. I used 1/4" marine grade plywood for the hull. I got the plywood from a hardwood lumber store close to my house. There seems to be a mistake in the dimensions of the third frame. Most people who have built this boat seem to have had to shim to frame out at the chine. You can probably see what I did to fix it from the video. I'm going to send let Jeff know about the issue and hopefully he can adjust the design. Other than that it was a pretty straight forward build.
