I like your idea for changing up the instructions. But at almost $100 just for legs, I think I will stick to 2x4 legs for now. I appreciate hearing about new products, though. Keep up the great videos! Thank you!

Knowing me, yes I would add a light & possibly a pegboard to the backing of shelving. Great project & absolutely loved the intro. God bless all & "Have Fun Building"👍🏻👍🏻

I bought this kit years ago from Amazon. The actual workbench itself is very sturdy, but there was just too little clearance on the lower storage shelves to make it a viable option for me. As for the bench TOP storage shelves, I have no idea what they were thinking. I e-mailed Fleximounts asking for some guidance as to what in the world one was suppose to do about the lumber for the bench TOP storage shelves. I don't think they understood what I was asking. They said they would consult with R&D and get back to me with an answer. That was three years ago. HA!

My daughter and I built a 2x4 ft one. We subbed out some MDF with a melamine finish that came in a 2x4 ft size from Menards. And we used some larger screws based on a review on their site. We had it done in no time. I’m using it for storage of some heavy stuff in my utility room. And yes, we cut the diagonal piece after we measured the space.

Could you attach some hardboard or pegboard at the back to keep that upper shelf unit from rocking? Take Care and Stay Safe, Barry (UK)👍

some peg board across the back of the shelves might make it more rigid, and peg board is usually pretty useful.

Adding a board on the back across the top shelves to the top of the top shelf would help with the movement. I think I would just build it out without the metal lets. Would save around 70 bucks on the build just using 2x4s for the legs and would be just as strong in my opinion.

If this sells that is great but one of my friends had one of these that eventually got that metal Cancer or should I simply say. It started to rust like any cheap metal will and my 2x4 plastic mold legs have been standing for years even after getting soaked with water and other chemicals a few times. I have replaced the top workbench plywood and the legs are still as good as the day I put the kit together.

Could you make an Mft table using this frame? Use pegs and dogs?

I have the L style bench it was somewhat easy doing it by myself but all in all very strong and sturdy.

I could see a 2x2 X brace in the back of the top to strengthen it.

The odd measurements for the top shelves is probably to stick to the "single sheet of plywood" claim

Maybe a sheet of 1/4" plywood on the back for stability?

I would add a backsplash so your stuff doesn't roll to the back. I built one to mine.

Would the top shelf be sturdier if you installed the other screws in the brackets?
@SpecificLove7 Жыл бұрын
The extra screws would probably help, but I have a feeling since it is thin plastic, there will still be a little movement.

Would it be easy to add diagonal bracing to the upper shelving unit? And would it add more stability to prevent racking?
@SpecificLove7 Жыл бұрын
You might be able to add a thin backing like you see on most commercial shelves, or maybe even add pegboard. And if you add enough nails or screws it should improve it.

@@SpecificLove7 That's what I did for a unit like that I built from scratch. It also prevents stuff falling out the backside.

How might these kits compare to simpson Strong ties for value?
@SpecificLove7 Жыл бұрын
This kit definitely costs more than the Simpson's kit, but it does provide more pieces and screws. Overall both kits had their good and bad, but if I had to choose one, I would probably go with the Simpson. Here is a little heads up, the next video should be a simple heavy duty workbench without a kit. I plan to incorporate some of the benefits of the first two in this version.

This product is absolutely terrible. I bought it and it is low quality, thin metal with tiny little screws. Don’t consider it. Edit: I returned it immediately after unboxing it.
@SpecificLove7 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear you didn't even attempt to assemble it because the lower section is quite sturdy.
