@rocksfire43904 жыл бұрын
Paul Roberto then you would lose a ton of speed because the craft now weighs even more. the easiest thing to do that doesn't increase weight is to make a long line of bubble wrap out the back (10ish blocks should be good) then widen the end. could hook up the paddles to level 5 engines on max and it wouldn't be able to flip the thing over. you want the flotation parts of your craft as FAR away as your main body as possible. this provides the most "lift" out of the water as possible. do you feel it's easier to tighten a nut with your fingers or do you feel it's easier to tighten a nut with a long wrench? same concept (mechanical advantage).

@vincentemmanuelvillamer57734 жыл бұрын
Nice question
@wyattcamacho74644 жыл бұрын
I dont think the buoyancy would help, I think to have optimal traction you need the water to be just below the bearing of the paddle. The buoyancy would leave less of the paddle in the water, therefore less traction. There would have to be expirements to figure it out 100%.

The effect actually has nothing to do with parent/child relationship at all. It's some kind of bizarre momentum calculation error that appears when angular momentum is translated linearly. You can reproduce the effect with or without water, with or without parent or children. The effect is greatly pronounced with springs, making one wonder if the spring glitch comes into effect in whatever underlying physics error exists- but even without any parent/child at all on the paddles, your object will move... but it will take a *lot* of paddles to even make it crawl.

@limonlx71824 жыл бұрын
I actually made a working prototype of a monorail train with stations in creative. Although I don't think that it's possible to call it from another station to your, because it probably will be too far to be loaded and you can't interact with things if they are not loaded, but I don't know how SM works, so maybe it can be loaded somehow. Hello Kan, I saw a little difference that could at least explain why he had less problems with the backwards rotating forces. His floating pads are just connected by one single point to the main part of the boat and this connection is as far as it looks, in the short time it can be seen, like a sport suspension.
@paullowry35984 жыл бұрын
You should consider having a smaller base that is entirely on a boat, and that runs with a bunch of massive paddles. The entire bottom would be bubble blocks, but the idea is that you can go at cruise-ship speeds from place to place, and you can walk around while it's moving. You'd be able to choose how many paddles are running per side as a way of changing the speed of the boat.

It would be sweet to see if you made the paddles out of bubble block and really wide so that they're used as the flotation and movement of the boat in one. My thought is that the flotation of the bubble block will also increase the amount of force that the suspension is converting into the forward movement of the boat following the parent child concept.

Kan the major difference between yours and 00fants is that his paddles are submerged completely being one block fully below the water. The second thing is that only his bubble blocks are touching the water, the wood is actually one block above with air between the wood and the water. That might be why his is faster as he has less friction going on.

I have so many questions and comments on the subject of boats to ask and make, but for now, I'll trim them down to this What do YOU want a boat to do for you, and why not gas? Component weight adds up fast. 00Fant (double zero Fant) does have some pretty amazing builds. A lot of them involve code edits, so just be aware of that. I have a thruster boat that I use for water travel. I've stripped it down to work with two thrusters, two sensors and a gas tank (no seat). It can be refueled on the move, and carry 4+ large chests. Oh, and it's FAST. If you'd like to see it, I could post a link for you.

FYI, this works due to the suspension glitch. It's the same phantom torque, except in this case it's based on the inertia of the paddles. So the paddles do need to be *heavy*, but there's no reason they can't be *buoyant*, they'd just have to be bigger when using lighter material.

@rocksfire43904 жыл бұрын
lots of that wood of the main boat should be bubble wrap, that would speed it up quite a lot just based on the weight lost. also as a test replace the paddles with bubble wrap too. can also make the paddles longer, just have the middle paddle stick out a bit more on the sides then the front and back paddle. it should also increase the cool factor by at least 2. also if you wanted a glitch less way to turn, you can just rotate a large mass in one direction. small glitch less aircraft use this for yaw, pitch and roll.

Turning could be done by putting a massive (mass, not size), buoyant, fully submerged paddle that rotates on the vertical axis, so the torque makes the rest of the vehicle turn. The buoyancy is to offset the mass, so it doesn't make it sink.
