suggested this before , you should dedicate an area around to pond to native prairie plants. it will draw in a whole range of species benefiting the whole area and look amazing with all the wild flowers.

Great idea. Different species of insect prefer certain plants and grasses, such as the monarch butterfly and milkweed. 😃

@@suntiki33 there is a growing movement to replace flower beds and Gardens with local wildflowers and Prairie plants. Even on small scales a 4 by 4 ft plot in your backyard can bring in dozens of species to it a larger pets near pend like that I would love to see some of the things that it would bring in

Native plants, sure. There is no natural Prairie in Alabama though, so any Prairie plant would not be native.
@MrAtrophy
@MrAtrophy Жыл бұрын
@@nicholaskramer7783 think my post failed, any open flat dry land even small has prairie plants in it even if it isn't near the black belt prairie that runs through Mississippi and Alabama. there would be suitable prairie plants native to Alabama there.
@nicholaskramer7783
@nicholaskramer7783 Жыл бұрын
@@MrAtrophy That is entirely false and your own made up definition of what a Prairie plant is. Not all grasses are prairie plants, and not all plants that grow on flat dry land are prairie plants. Again, there is no natural prairie land in Alabama, the Black Belt Prairie is not an actual Prairie, it got its name because the cultivated land and rich black soils resemble one, not because it is actually one. While some Prairie plants could potentially grow in the area, it does not make them native.

This is one of the weirdest channels I've ended up watching repeatedly and subscribing to. It's such a massive yet personal project described in the most gentle ways. I'm not really sure at this point why Bass are so important to the OP. I don't know much about fish. But every update I'm loving how we get to see how the eco-system evolving and how encouraging the OP is towards it. Love the tables of nuts. Keep doing what you're doing

Unless you're an avid sportsman, you'll never understand the devotion we have for the species we fish and/or hunt for or the appreciation there is for the environment and all the other species that share it. Hopefully a video like this will convey this to you and you will have respect and admiration for sportsmen, rather than hatred for their harvesting of some of these animals. It's all designed by Yahweh (GOD)!

Being a bird guy, I think you're most likely to get Osprey using this - and in a lot of ways they're much cooler than Bald Eagles. I don't know that I've ever seen Eagles using pole platforms for nesting as their nests are 6' in diameter and weigh upwards of 1000 lbs. Eagles like nesting sites that are 40', or higher, above the ground.
@devinpenfold2274
@devinpenfold2274 Жыл бұрын
I completely agree. I'd wager that platform will have an osprey nest in know time. And they mate for life like Eagles. Here in Canada we have 10 year old nests that are the size of a car.

You all have come a long way and it is really interesting watching the pond progress with your projects and all the wildlife that it has attracted! If you are still looking for bass names, might I suggest the name Pisces? It's the astrological sign for Feb. 19 - Mar. 20 and is symbolized by fish so I think it would work nicely. 7:40 appears to be a Common Nighthawk. They aren't hawks but closer to swallows that catch bugs in the air. The bird on the table is an Eastern Bluebird, the flock of black birds are Common Grackles. Snowball is a Forster's Tern.

We had a massive bald eagle hunt 2 bunny rabbits in our backyard and 1 in the front yard. Both rabbits were to large for him to carry off he came back 3 days in a row he would eat parts of it and fly home into the bluffs near the house. It was still in the 20s to single digits at night so the rabbit was frozen. It seemed like they were taking food back to babies. It was my very first time ever watching those magnificent birds hunt in the wild. I captured 2 4k video clips and several dozen still shots

Raccoons work the shore for Black Freshwater Mussels that bury themselves along the edge of the lake. You should put in a bushel of mussels or more in the lake. They're filter feeders that can help keep the water clear, but most of all, they're an added food source.

NESTLE DOWN. Perfect name for an Eagle home ;) Its also the name of my grandparents home built in Alabama at our family's "Pond House". Kinston to be specific. My cousin Katie Boyd Britt does a few of her campaign videos at the pond house. Just youtube it. Love what you're doing here! Been watching since you broke ground.
