I have a unlawful sounds night terror 15 which is basically just a three slug version of that motor that you have and it has a pull piece that sticks up 2 in past the motor because it has a massive aluminum Faraday ring on it but it has the V2 TI basket and the thing I like about that basket is it has zero gauge speaker terminals
@MrM_Full-Send Жыл бұрын
I just googled them 😮🔥.. those terminals are nutty 🤣… I thought the 4awg were big 🤣🤣🤣

Nicely done my friend is actually the first time I've seen your Channel😅 and whether you know it or not you just ended a gigantic dispute on many different forums does carbon fiber actually conduct electricity,, I knew it did I'm a little on the old school side I remember the oopsie from Orion with the NT subs

Thank You!! Mr M is still kinda obscure 🤣. slowly building 😊. I actually learned about the carbon fibre cone thing from a fellow sub builder and friend. Thought I’d share the knowledge.

@@MrM_Full-Send yeah I was kind of shocked to see quad stacks , what is that an 8-in slugs of ferrite
@MrM_Full-Send11 ай бұрын
@@FrankStPeter slugs are 10.75”. I believe they are the only 4slug with a 4” voice coil that will fit through a 12” ti basket cutout. We worked with a manufacturer to have them made. all existing 4slug 4” VC motors are too big to fit through, so will only work traditionally on 15 and 18” subs.. it’s kinda ridiculous on a 12 but… that was kinda the point i guess.

Subs look great man. Something that may help with the push terminals is getting them installed on the basket before installing the soft parts and then connecting the leads before gluing the surround. That's how I do it and never have an issue. Can't wait to see the tsp's.
@MrM_Full-Send Жыл бұрын
that definitely works however… I also glue the cone from the underside which would be equally difficult if the cone assembly was glued into the basket… an additional triple ring under the cone is also an option but I did not want to go that route for a couple reasons.

Are the terminal B2 audio size or sundown audio size?

they are 4awg.

Have you considered a taller top plate or done any testing with different sized top plates? Also epoxy rather than ca for the coil to spider joint? Would you consider this a tight gapped motor or not? Those new 4 spokes lob has look pretty good too Im waiting for some to try out with these motors I built a while back. I like the 10.85" spider landing on the 18" version and those 4 spokes look pretty strong compared to others. Pretty hard to beat the 6 spoke ti basket though. Thing looks crazy hope it performs well.
@MrM_Full-Send Жыл бұрын
yes I have considered a thicker top plate and taller pole vent. however I want to see the ts parameters and how it performs before I go down that road. coil to spider is epoxy, the black CA I was talking about was just where the leads were glued to the former collar. I consider this a wide gap because it fits an 8 layer VC I can’t even get an 8 layer VC into my RE Destroyer motor which I believe is a tight gap… the exact definition is unclear. I’m looking forward to testing these out, should be interesting. they are of course prototypes so I’m Evaluating everything as i go. definitely some changes but overall pretty happy so far.

@@MrM_Full-Send I consider tight gaps things that have a hard time fitting 4 layer coils in them. Ive built a couple motors myself but have paid people to make the top plate and reused tyokes or used off the shelf type options. Would really like to get myself a lathe and try various things out but then would need a magnetizer too or just deal with live magnets and jigs which can add a lot of time to it. Have an Idea for a neo motor too but currently either cant find the specific rings I want to use or when they are available dont have the funds. Those 8s you sell are pretty impressive. I was on an 8" sub kick for several years and wanted to sell one to start off with to generate funds to do bigger projects but the whole c19 situation slowed all that down. Someday though. Thanks for clarifying. Was gonna say Ive found that using epoxy there seems to work a lot better than CA. I think the ca there kinda acts as an abrasive over time.
@MrM_Full-Send Жыл бұрын
@@666nacirema666 yes i have thought about lathe and self mfg but i don’t have the space or funds to do that at this time. magnet zappers are large and expensive… as are metal lathes🤣.. I considered making one. Luciano on youtube explains how to make a smaller one so… theoretically a lager unit could be designed but🤷♂️. who knows…
