Hello my dear friends🙂
This is the 12th episode of the log cabin construction series where I reached half the height of the cabin wall.
I haven't had much time to work on the log cabin lately because I had some obligations that I had to do, but now I'm back and I hope to finish the walls as soon as possible.
Thank you all for the positive comments. I appreciate it very much. I would also appreciate a lot if you can support my channel by subscribing!

More about me:
When I was 20 years old, I dropped out of college and said to myself that I will do what I really want and what I see meaning in. So I decided to build my dream log cabin, all by myself, in the middle of an off-grid bush.
After I left school, I went to work for a while to earn money for trees and hand tools. I spent all the money I earned and my savings on it. Thank God, I already owned the land I have - I got it from my dear parents as a gift and I also bought another part of the land with my own money.
I chose a log cabin for my home because I like it. I build it with the vision of living a simple and peaceful life in it. Having time is more important to me than having money. Of course, nowadays a person cannot live without money, but I would like to live in such a way that my expenses are not so high and thus reduce the need for money. I want to have time not only for myself, but also for my future wife and children. That's why I will try to build the most self-sufficient life possible, in which my own housing, in my case a log cabin, will be the heart of this system.
I use hand tools because they are my favorite. There is beauty in simplicity.
Working with hand tools has several advantages: You are able to work off-grid, the entire set of tools you need can fit in one bag, there is better safety when you work alone, you don´t make too much noise when you´re working... so I enjoy it more and I believe you will too, while watching :)
Sometimes you will still see me use power tools for some things where I can't avoid it completely, such as drilling through metal roofing or welding, but otherwise I will always try to use primarily hand tools.
My dear father is a carpenter. I remember that most of the things he taught me while working with wood were precisely while working with hand tools, which required the most attention and practice from me.
My father taught me how to work with wood from a young age, but I have no experience with building a log cabin, so I'm learning everything as I go, and I'm looking forward to what this experience will teach me.
It may not seem like it, but it was a big struggle to get this opportunity to be able to work on my dream, but I finally did it and for that I am incredibly grateful. I also started this KZbin channel where I share my entire journey, so if you are interested, you can check it out. There is no one behind the camera, so I do all the filming and editing myself. I would also be very grateful if you would support my journey by subscribing or sharing, if you want to.
Thank you for being here, I really appreciate it and I'm glad you're watching. I will try to make videos as best as I can, so that you get the greatest enjoyment from them.
Thank you all for your attention. Enjoy!

I am so happy to see Matthias building his future log cabin, good example for present and future generation out there ……..Look youngsters!!!!! Learn from this fellow young guy Matthias! He breathes nature and he doesn’t need too much computers, cells, Facebook, TikTok, etc., his technology is his tools!!! Great dude.

I'm so tired of the older generations being so out of touch with the younger ones. As a millennial I know that the younger people have to work hard for anything they want because that's the only way they can afford it. And if you think it doesn't take work and computer time to edit a video this well then you don't know anything about technology.

I’ve just taken on an allotment (area of land you rent yearly to grow food) and it is in a complete mess. I’ve been here all day it doesn’t feel like I’m making any progress but watching your video has given me the inspiration to just get my head down and carry on. Your cabin looks amazing. All the best.

I'm new to this channel and just subscribed.. I'm age 22 and have 1 year of college in me as the pandemic came. I've not gone back and now am in construction. I use a lot of power tools. But I love your commitment to tradition. I did gymnastics for 14 years (ages 4 to 18). To make money for gymnast academy fees I started working for a property management company when I was age 13. It was only to make enough money but then I liked the world and learned a lot. I then worked more hours there and some more in the summers. Then the pandemic hit and I got a job at Menards in the building materials dept. I decided not to go back to college (community college). The second summer working there I met a lot of guys in construction companies as home remodeling went up during the pandemic. That led to being offered a full time construction. This is my 2nd year working full time in framing and drywall at the moment. I admire your dedication. I was adopted from Ukraine by American couple and raised in USA. But my adoptive parents divorced when I was age 10 leaving mom and me poor. By age 13 I was more or less raising myself. And so needed to make money. I have no dads to teach me anything so I like that you have a father who loves you. I really like house building a lot and have some great dad role models in my life. Sad to say that none of my gymnastics coaches cared to be father figure. When I was age 16 I was severely beat up by a group of older athletes who had just graduated high school. I was alone doing a bar workout when they found me all alone on a hot summer night. They put me in a full nelson and took turns throwing hard punches mostly to my abs. I lasted off and on over 30 minutes trying to survive. I went home to an empty house and had no dad to help me. I have never ever told my mom who had a lot of problems of her own. That's why I started living on my own even if living in same house. Some weeks I rarely saw mom. Anyway I hope to be a good dad when that can happen to me. Stay injury free as you build on your own! Anton

I haven’t seen your videos for a few weeks, but I finally saw your newly uploaded videos online today. I really like your handmade wood craftsmanship. Although it takes a lot of time, the craftsmanship is very detailed. The practical and durable details of the wooden house will be better than the superficial gorgeousness. Home is for life. I hope you will make this paradise as special as a fairyland, including building its surrounding gardens, planting, and gardening design environment. This is also a homework.

When I was growing up in Oklahoma,I used to love looking at places I wanted to have a single A-frame home built the same way as your doing now, wish I knew where I got distracted first but now 62, had stroke in 2022, now half of me is numb all the time so that's my build project. Love seeing such great work from handsome strong man keep going love the designs and style admire greatly., Darryl

Hey bud, Ive got to say im quite impressed with your skills & being so young.. As a carpenter of 23 years and seeing the skill set you have acquired, I can honestly say, your more skilled than most of the guys i work with and they are much older than you.. Be your own BOSS, do not work for someone else. I worked for someone else for the first 15 years of being in the trade, why work my butt off for someone else and make them money on my skills... Best decision I made was going into business for myself.. keep up the great work, you have some really great skills. And always follow your ❤️, because thats what leads to happiness... Your “woodman-ship “ is amazing! You have knowledge and skill that seems well beyond your years. It’s quite mesmerising to watch the log go from a simple but large lump of tree stem into a craved perfectly fitting next row on the main build. It also looks as though you’re not too sloppy in the cookery department! As always, a great video. Look forward to the coming weeks as we see the cabin take shape and begin to see the construction become a home.❤

You have much more patience than I will ever possess. :) I repurpose furniture and also am making some from damaged trees I have cut down on my property, but I struggle to put patience into my process, I tend to like tasks that are quicker to completion. A good pat on the back to you! You do amazing work. When did you start learning your woodworking skills? What other things do you make from wood. Is it common in your country, did your father teach you?

Great use of subtitles. It’s much better than ASMR and voice over. Your grammar is exceptional. ❤

Matthias … Another incredible video is finished and on the internet; another stellar job well done!!! You give me hope with your generation!!! You are an inspiration!!! Please keep up the excellent work and better videos!!! I do have a question, though; what are the dimensions of the small shanty that you constructed to stay on while you are building the log cabin? It is sweet and beautiful in its own right!!! Until your reply, next video, and beyond, happy trails, best wishes, take care, BE SAFE, Jesus’ peace, and God bless!!! Hi Matthias…. Are you finding that your are getting more efficient, more skilled, at carving the notches with the axe/large chisel? How much quicker are you completing each log compared to your first full log?

Hello Mike. Yes, now I don't have to think about every little thing I do anymore. I already know how to do it and it has become a routine. But the speed of work has not accelerated much. I would say I am 30% faster than at the beginning.

Are you using the Paulownia trees for firewood? In the US they're considered a bit of a weed tree, but I like them and they attract hummingbirds. You can also coppice them, and they grow back into a full tree in one or two seasons.
