DISCLAIMER-
THIS VIDEO WAS FILMED UNDER PARENTAL SUPERVISION
All of the building and firing was done under extreme supervision, my Mom watched me build it and my Dad helped shoot it he was the cameraman also a safety person. So almost 4 years to the day I received this muzzleloader build kit and 3 years later I built it and figured I would show y’all and now the brief building was filmed before I thought I’d have a KZbin channel so it’s not the greatest. Enjoy the video!
Special thanks to:
My Mom for letting me build this (even though I had to do a lot of chores to build it)
My Dad for being my camera man
My Paw Paw Jeff for getting me this to build for Christmas 2017

Don't pour your powder in directly from your flask you could have a spark and blow your hand off always use your powder measure please

Yes I know that now I have been warned, but I do really appreciate it and I am more aware now pouring power, the great thing was I had just brushed and oiled the barrel so at least I had known there was no embers. Thank you for telling me this

When it comes to shooting muzzle loaders, i being a civil war re-enactor, like to pre-make my ammo. I roll paper cartridge tubes and fill em with a pre measured amount of powder and then seat the ball in the tubes. This way makes it so much easier to just carry the ammo into the field without need of a flask and measure and just stuff em all into a cartridge box i wear on my belt and a cap pouch as well.

That’s awesome. You know I have really wanted to try making paper cartridges then make a cartridge and cap box and that would all go great with this muzzleloader or my real civil war musket. Thank you

Some advice while loading.. Never put your fingers, hands, or face over the muzzle or ram rod. While you were loading with it between your legs, that ram rod was pointed right at your face. Place the butt on your foot and hold the weapon at an angle away from you. Load from this position. You don't need to do the little shake before capping. If properly tamped, the powder will make its way into the chamber and vent. Keep your balls, patches, and powder in a waist pack So it is easily accessed. Keep the caps in a separate pouch. Having them in a chest pocket is not a good idea for a variety of reasons. Finally, please look up proper stance for shooting a long gun.

If you decide to shoot some sabots, make sure you wait 5 minutes before reloading because once that plastic fouling gets into that barrel, you will never get it out. I quit using sabots because of this. T/C maxihunter or maxiball will shoot very well out that barrel, along with Lee REAL (rifling engraved at loading).

@HuntingDownAdventure
@HuntingDownAdventure 2 жыл бұрын
Here is the response to that comment. first off I just want to say thank you for such a great comment. I will check out the muzzleloading forum. so as far for the addictive sport yes 100% I killed my first deer with a in-line muzzleloader and ever since then I've been hooked. I was shooting at 50 yards in the video and all of the bullets surrounding and in the bull's-eye were my shots using modern red tipped bullets with 100 grains of powder. After I started editing I realized that I loaded straight into from the flask and realized what I had done but the lucky thing was I had just brushing and cleaned it after the previous 10 or so shots which was lucky I did so. Icould not shoot powder pellets, but the powder brand I used was triple seven I'm still figuring out for the bullets and powder how many shots and take before cleaning, since that was the first time I ever got to shoot it and it didn't come with much information after building it or I just didn't put it back with it after I built a year or so ago and put it up. as for the twist you're correct. I would like to be able to get into casting and I'm planning to check it out in the near future I have not made a powder Horn, but I have made a leather bag. I've been told to join shooting clubs by Several people which I might do in the future but it will be a while considering all the stuff going around but in the meantime I have 64 acres to be able to shoot freely upon. don't be sorry for the long, that's why I do this thank you

Can I only shoot old style lead ammo, or can I use the new stuff that's designed for modern muzzleloaders?
@HuntingDownAdventure
@HuntingDownAdventure Жыл бұрын
You can use either, I have found shooting the modern stuff shoots more accurate such as grouping in the hole at 50-75 yards with 300 grains bullets. The old style was cheaper that’s why I used it in the video and the old style is less accurate. Thank you

Damn, 30 seconds to build a BP rifle? Still trying to get the barrel to fit in the stock on mine. Never again will i buy a kit rifle. What a PITA. For not much more you can get it assembled.

I hear you man the barrel was easy for me but you know the trigger to me 2 dagum hours but all and all that gun took me around 5-6 hours to make. One of these days I plan to build one from scratch no kit and make all the parts. Well good luck on yours don’t give up man even though then put together ones are so much more appealing yours will be worth so much to you. Thank you

How do you do it without holding it between your legs
@silvermediastudio
@silvermediastudio 9 ай бұрын
@@HuntingDownAdventure See my other post. You rest the butt on your foot and hold it away from you, outboard. Then load with opposite hand. Have your powder measured out ahead of time into a loading tube, much safer than using the measure. You never want to use the measure to pour directly into the barrel, because if there is a spark and it goes, you don't want 1/4lb of black powder going off in your hand and near your face. You just want it to flash in the barrel and vent to the atmosphere.

I’m not entirely sure about the metal used As for improved penetration I believe your talking about when fired into objects if so I would recommend more consistent powder charges or tighter wading or casting your own lead shots and if this doesn’t work reply again and I’ll try and help some more Thank you
