Rifle made in Spain by Ardesa, and marketed in USA by Traditions. Good rifle for the price. Saludos desde España.

I just got into black powder a year ago and started with a Traditions Deerhunter Flintlock. Probably the cheapest loader out there and really accurate. I now own two, one with a plastic stock for bad weather. I bought some French flints and they have rarely miss fired for me, and when they did it was my sloppy loading that caused it.

That's awesome! We didn't have any trouble with the cci caps we were using.

I bought one while everyone was locked up during Covid. Shipped right to my door, it was a fun little project. However, the ram rod and trigger assembly are really poor quality, a lot of people replace the sights on these also. It comes with the territory for cheap muzzleloading imports.

I have a family heirloom American Can Co. Quick Loader which is a little can with a spout you fill with powder and then squeeze and it puffs some powder in the barrel. Skips the annoying measuring

Right on! Yea we pre made up a bunch of the paper powder packs, that saved a lot of time.
@craigbinder55608 ай бұрын
That delay is because of pyrodex if ya replace 5 or 10 granes of the total charge you won't have that problem and if I may speaking from experience black powder is so much cleaner than bp substitute like pyrodex little soap and hot water clean as a whistle though it is harder to find and more expensive it's a night and day difference

I purcahse this same rifle a few months ago , but haven't fired it yet. What type of powder did you use and what grain amount did you use ? the rifle seems super accurate at 30 yards and I'm ready to give mine a try after seeing this. Great vid. .

The locks are designed to be safe, and generally you won't have an issue shooting a right-hand gun left handed. The only issue I have with my flintlock is sometimes the priming is distracting (which isn't a good thing with the long lock time of a flinter). It's better if you can get a left handed gun, and where most places are out of finished guns; you might try your hand at putting one together yourself. Flintlock/Perc+drum costs $170, "half stock" can run $60 (less if you are willing to make a laminate), a premium quality Barrel+Breechplug (Rice or Colerain) runs $225, Butt-plate runs $15, barrel key + tenon costs $8, simple trigger is $15 and set runs $50, Trigger guard is $15, and sights can run anywhere from $30 to over $100. It's more, but it's yours; and it can be as nice or simple as you want it to be. I have one of these cheap traditions guns (gift from my parents over a decade ago, I'm surprised they're selling the same gun still), and the only reason I'm keeping it is because I'm reworking the barrel and basically building a whole new gun from some of the parts. They're better than nothing, but you get what you pay for. There's no reason a short, single barrel .50 should weigh 7.5 lbs and be that incredibly muzzle heavy.
