I bought a CVA Bobcat from Chinamart for $50. plus tax. It shot round balls like a house a fire. Our youngest son killed his first buck with it.

Impressive shooting. When you first showed this gun with plastic parts I thought it would come with a coon skin Daniel Boone hat for Halloween. But proved to be worthwhile.

I got one of the coonskins. I going to start Wareing on black powder video's.

I bought mine from bass pro back in the early 90's, Thought I may have been wasting my $60 I paid. Gun shot unbelievably well that was when my eyes still worked good. I wish I could buy a half dozen of those again for $60 to give to friends. Never had an issue with the delrin rod provided and don't remember the cleaning jab but mine is brass. I put a piece of mole skin in the ramrod pipe to keep it from rattling and some rags in the stock to balance it out and get rid of the hollow sound. That gun started it for me now I build muzzle loaders from blanks and parts.

I love the smell of black powder in the morning. I think that CVA made one similar back in the day called the Bobcat.

I have the traditions Deer Hunter. Pretty much the same gun but with fiber optic sites Unfortunately I can only own muzzle loaders no I am not a fellin long story

What you have here is the cva bobcat. Nice basic bp rifle. I love mine, you would be surprised at what you can do with a simple rifle like this. Great knock around gun. Try double patching a 45 round ball or sabot with a 36 pistol ball for rabbit or wood chuck.

I bought a Traditions Fox River 50 caliber that came with a 32 cal barrel. If memory serves me correctly I paid $ 100.00 for it. Back in the day 97 ish . I was oiling it down yesterday 9/27/23 when I noticed that the plastic butt plate had broken. I have taken at least one Whitetail Doe with it. I was using Buffalo ballets great.

the loading block is another cumbersome oddity. a small pouch of balls with some small thin patches will be preferable for plinking, until you figure out the correct ball diameter..

MANY years ago I bought a car, it was really hard to get to fire. So often I had to pull the nope and put q pinch of powder to make it fire. I think there was a problem with the touch hole. My T/C Hawken I put a Green Mt target barrel on it, it shot fantastic, but I like my Great Plains rifle better. Sold the T/C

well, I really enjoyed this shoot. As an English man, we don't get it. The opportunity to shoot muzzle leaders today. I have been considering a new rifle build, based on the box breach design of an English pocket pistol maker of 1860. having a box breech built into a side-held flintlock with a separate safety catch & pan lock built in is interesting. Adaptable the box breech makes room for stander telescopic sights & even iron sits & rear Verner & windage sites, the mine. ball & 28" barrel or the smother boor or Rifal being a choice & 1 in 28 inch twist being my choice. i think would make for a new & existing rifal. built whit half stoke & steel ram tod use. I may yet build my self one. best on the dimension's of the CDVA Bobcat for size. I wuld be interested to her back on the mind of them interested in such a design of rifal. Les England .

I got my Bobcat used at a local gun show. It works as a beginner gun. I can't afford something fancy. Last year bought the wood stock Sharpshooter version. Pretty much the same with an adjustable rear sight. I actually like the plastic stock Bobcat. Sort of a BP tactical gun 😂.

Not unless you find in some anal fudd gun store. I was buying a shotgun. Was waiting on the background check and found a nice looking, inexpensive Rem 1858 BP revolver. The salesman said the off-site owner insisted on adding it to the 4473. Would not take the "not a firearm" argument.

you need a new mole whacker, that thing is too long and whatever is on the end is gonna be hard on the front feet if you ask me. start by using that flat side of it to baton the ball level with the crown then you only need to go a couple inches with the starter, the rest should go easy with the ramrod. the starter you have seems to be a gimmick sold to novices to look, i don't know what in a plastic sort of over the mantel with a goat head way.

If you want to shoot Black Powder, then use Black Powder, not ready made capsules. I get it, but it's definitely a modern twist. If it brings more people to the hobby, then that's great, but for me, I like shooting in the most traditional way as possible. Not a fan of the inline stuff either. Some of these states are allowing modern BP hunting and some have said no to the modern BP setups, hopefully, we will have the majority of BP shooters still using more traditional methods. Best of luck and stay safe.
