Berm Peak

Күн бұрын

Nothing says "home improvement" like building a mountain bike park in your yard. Today, we build an elevated roll-in deck at the summit of Berm Peak. I'm calling it, "The Flight Deck". In the future, we could build drops, bridges, or any number of features off the flight deck. This was a pretty big build for one amateur carpenter to do in a weekend, so I sure learned a lot on this one. Enjoy!

Quik tip from a german carpenter: First of all amazing work really a good "Flight Deck" But the wood should never touch the ground it rott much faster if so. Make a hole fill it out with cement and insert a metal structure that you screw your pillor onto. The lifespan of your wood increase rapidly 😊 Sorry my english : )

@@Torchedini I agree he's got the sponsorship deal, makes sense, but I don't think price is a consideration for Seth ... It's just the difference of maybe $1,000 or thereabouts, which is more of an investment anyway (plus he'd be able to write em off as a business expense since they're for his videos). Not saying that's peanuts, but all things considered, even if it's $2,000 extra, that really isn't much given Seth's making a good chunk of change these days.

RE 1:23 I love that you are thinking about the environmental impact of wood chemicals Seth. Anyway, here in central Europe we have saying that goes something like this: What burns, doesn't rot. And it originates from the notion that If you want to preserve wood, especially when it is partially buried in ground, you can just simply burn its outer skin where it touches the dirt and about a foot above the ground and that will give the wood a much longer life. It works well and is relatively easy to do with propane blow-torch.

Seth, consider doubling up the two perimeter joist you used to hang all of the other hoist on. These 2 perimeter joist are doing most of the supporting of the deck above. You could add a joist right on top....or, even better right tight below. Looking good so far! Can't wait to see the rest of the trails and features! BTW nice timber screws!
