The TIE Fighter from the Star Wars franchise is one of the simplest yet most iconic designs in scifi history. Lucasfilm has used the same basic look across multiple variants in many of its movies. Bandai has faithfully recreated these fighters with their usual detail, fit, and exceptional value.
In this series, I'll be using a Star Wars: Rogue One TIE Striker to demonstrate some easy steps to get great results on ANY Bandai TIE Fighter.
This first episode gives an overview of the kit, discusses differences in other variants, and then demonstrates a simple method to get the most out of painting the cockpit.
Part 1: Overview And Cockpit • Building Bandai's Star...
Part 2: Assembly And Base Painting - • Building Bandai's Star...
Part 3: Weathering And Finish - • Building Bandai's Star...

Getting back into the hobby and discovered your channel. Great instructions and advice. What brand primer did you use on the cockpit?

Thank you so much! This was Mr. Surfacer 1000, thinned with Mr. Color Leveling Thinner. But I also use Badger's Stynylrez, Tamiya and Mr. Color Rattle cans, and I've tested others over the years. If you don't have an airbrush, I recommend Tamiya or Mr. Color spray cans. With an airbrush, Badger's Stynylrez (also sold as One Shot Primer by Ammo, and by UMP too) is great, as is Mr. Surfacer. Like I said though, I will use any of them. More and more I like rattle cans simply because they are so fast. Hope that helps! Thanks again for watching and commenting, and I hope you enjoy your modeling journey. :D

@@DonGilmanTXAggieSE Ah - gotcha! Thanks for the clarification. It's an acrylic shade from Citadel called "Nuln Oil". It's basically a black acrylic wash. But the only oil in it is in the name. :)
