An interesting take on the problematic rotating cockpit. Great job by the way! As you've pointed out they would need two sets of independant artificial gravity on the ship to deal with the 'in-flight' deck separation. The maintenance this ship would need in the SW Universe would be insane.

Thanks for the great comment Colin. If someone came up with the design for 'Slave 1' in the 'real world' they would probably get fired, or fed to the Sarlacc...

Hope you don't mind a couple of questions - how many Kg of filament did you use on this model and would you change print settings if you weren't going to carry out your mods, ie print the model + assemble as it is?
@StaplesandVine2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sound Guy. I originally printed out all the parts on my FDM Ultimaker and I reckon it was about 4Kg of filament. I used a 0.6mm nozel but all of the other settings were as recommended but Gambody. You will have to plan what order you print stuff to get the maximum our of each reel. I suggest printing all the big parts first if you can. Allow for 5Kg and you should be safe.

Simply beautiful! I’m dying to do this prefect too. Can you share your files please. Would love to print them as well.

Thanks for the wonderful comment. The base model is available from Gambody. Check out their channel here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKDYZmd9rd2jiKs Just follow the links in the description. My parts require MAJOR surgery to the base model (see PART 2) so getting my parts to fit needs a lot of work.

I have a question, in the slave one, in the episode "the believer" with bill burr, we can see them being in a cylindrical place, now where would that be on your model? Or id doesn't exist in your interpretation, i cant see how old is this video without having to rewrite my question but i guess that episode was out when you made this Edit: yeah it was
@StaplesandVine10 ай бұрын
Hi Sam, thanks for the comment. The designs for the cockpit in the 'Mandalorian' and 'Book of Boba Fett' are in reality, impossible. Making a physical model I had to design something that worked and was in keeping with the style of Slave 1. We do know that in the SW universe they do have control over gravity and crews can walk around in the ships. Check out my later Slave 1 videos to see the full interior. 🙂

if you watch the behind the scenes of The Mandalorian season 2, they show a short animation of how it works in the starwars universe, its similar to your solution but not exactly the same
@StaplesandVine3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've seen it. It does seem a rather crazy solution to rotate all the rest of the ship around the crew seats and will mean ladders everywhere. On the ground or in flight all the crew accommodation is going to be totally messed up. The toilet is going to be a total nightmare!

@@StaplesandVine Seen in the Mandalorian the Cockpit consists of two decks, the main flight deck and the ground floor, only these two decks are rotating according to the cinematic scenes, the rest of the ship is most likley build for flight position.
@StaplesandVine2 жыл бұрын
@@LA-st6dq I decided to go for a design not cannon but a lot more practical. Something that would make a lot more common sense and a lot less spilt coffee.
@LA-st6dq2 жыл бұрын
@@StaplesandVine I mean both your idea and the OG make sense 😉 although the second deck in your idea stays horizontal/vertical which is strange unless you thought about artificial gravity. But since it was a prisoner transport it makes sense that everything is built for flight mode aside at least the decks which can be rotated vice versa. We know from AOTC and the OG Triology the Cockpit can be left in flight mode even when landed, but of course for the comfortable access/exit the rotation will be engaged. Maybe we will see more of the interior functions in Book of Boba.

Also, would you be willing to make a small custom photo etch thing? I don’t have the tools to do it myself, and can’t find anyone to design and make me some, could I hire you? I’m making a 1/35 barn, and need a weather vane… would you be willing to do that? Thanks
@StaplesandVine3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I don't actually do the photo-etching I just send the artwork off to these guys - modelshop.co.uk/Static/WorkShop/Photo-Etching You can supply artwork in various file formats or go 'old school' and draw it by hand several times full size for them to reduce. It really isn't hard the first step is to choose which thickness of metal you need and then go from there.

@StaplesandVine2 жыл бұрын
That's a big question! To print a Slave 1 for your figures use and FDM printer (that's what I used). Then it's down to your budget. You get what you pay for, many start with a Creality or Prusa. Both good brands but you can go crazy if you want to start printing Star Wars helmets. PLA is the easiest material to print with. Research a few makes first and check reviews on KZbin but buy a recognised brand so you can get help if you need it.
