I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

If you want the cycle to happend faster in the new pond, I recommend you take some water from an already cycled pond. That way the good bacteria will multiply much faster as there will already be some colony in it. I do this with aquariums and it works great.

Great video! You must have been hurting after that workout but you did an excellent job! Had to laugh when you put the floating turtle in the pond, looked like he was having a good old time.😊 Love that the adults came back to roost! Shows they approve of all your hard work. 🐸 The new pond looks like the perfect size for a plunge pool for your neighborhood bear. 🐻 I don't remember, have any turtles found your ponds?

I have not had any turtles show up yet, but we have lots of salamanders and snakes that I didn't put here and I accidentally brought a fish that reproduced now there's dozens of them, but thankfully, it's not a fish that gets huge, so I might leave it. My big pond has a school of fish. Not only get about four inches average each

Love the pond. I keep picturing little miniature beavers 🦫 (think: aquatic hamsters 😅) moving in to do battle with Post. A Ken-doll, wearing thigh-hi rubber boots, running a tiny rake through cattail debris stacked on the overflow valve... Seriously though, Post, I admire you on many levels... genuinely wholesome. 👏💜

That drain setup looks all right. I don't know what the Home Depot's carry where you are, but I know ours has those tank wall bushing adapters from 1 in all the way up to 2 1/2 in. We bought a bunch of the 2-inch ones for the 1200 gallon water Reserve we have in the basement made up of five big tanks plumbed together we have natural spring water that's been here since 1740 when the house and the property was built and established. We've done some recent work to the spring, the spring itself holds over 2,000 gallons of water in itself and more in the aquifer around it then it's gravity fed a cup of 100 yards to the house and into the reserve tanks in the basement. The water is very pure and very clean but it does pass through a UV light station then through a jet pump an expansion tank and then a couple of sediment filters.

for the shiny metal pond why not just put the rocks inside the pond? this way it will provide crevices for the tadpoles a place to hide. you might want to layer the rocks so it's higher up the water column for those tadpoles that hang around the surface.

I honestly have no idea what happened to the fish. I planned on removing them in the spring, but they had disappeared. It's not what you may think, They didn't die from suffocation under the ice over the winter since they were there about a month ago. I'm thinking something went in the pond and got them. Maybe a bird. Maybe a blue heron came out of the swamp something

You might want to check your water supply because I have changed the water in my fish tank and put tap water in it and the fish would jump out and land on the floor. And maybe that is the reason your frogs won’t stay in there. So if you have a stream close by it might be better to use a small pump and use that water.
