Being high is the best way to make a typically boring situation so funny and fun lol. I miss being high with my boyfriend so much and doing random things together. we’re taking a weed break right now and it sucks 😩 but this video made my day lol. At least I can watch two other people be high and do something as random as building a rat cage 😂😂😂

Alyssa, you always do your research, and it shows. You are going to have very happy babies in that well equipped cage. It looks like they will have lots of fun, be safe and well fed, but most of all, be well loved. I think when you have lived with them for a few days, that will help with naming the little critters🐀🐀🐀💞

Btw they are super loud at night! And for bedding I would recommend putting some perspex around the side of the tray so you can give them a litter tray and some bedding to dig in they love that I used fleece but it didn't really work so I use hemp and they love finding their food when I scatter feed them:)

I used to have LEDs along the tops of my walls when I first got my rats, and they loved the blue and purple lights and when I turned them red at night (since I didn’t like the dark) they would get mad and I eventually learned to sleep with purple lights on, I had no idea about them liking blue and purple light though! That’s so interesting…I thought my rats were really weird for it hahaha

I have double Critter Nation and a single that are attached side by side, zip tied without the side panels where they connect, and I built both of them by myself. I actually found it to be pretty easy, but that's probably because of the comparison with my first cage. My first cage was a Prevue Hendryx ferret cage, only a little smaller but it was put together with bolts and screws, and I put that together myself as well. So comparing that to the Critter Nation which is just lift and lock and slides into place I found it way easier and it took less than half as long to put both together than the single Prevue cage lol. By the way, you might benefit from some extra hides, maybe some wooden tunnels, little places for them to feel secure. Your hammocks are great for that, but more is always better and a busy cage makes for happy rats! It might also help to replace the ramps with more lava ledges or bird perches because rats love to climb and jump and can get bored easily, and ramps are too easy. I personally only have two shelves in my cage and no level dividers, and one of the shelves is, except for about a three inch edge, entirely taken up by a dig box filled with oat hay (a favorite for my rats, it's nesting and bedding and a forage toy with the seed heads for snacking all in one, i keep it deep enough that they weave tunnels in it) with a litter tray on top. The other shelf at the opposite end of the cage shades the dirt filled dig box (terrarium soil is excellent for digging, my girls adore it) and has two hides, a grass mat for tearing up, and another litter tray, so they're super busy and filled up. No ramps in my cage, just tons and tons of lava ledges and hammocks and ropes turned into bridges and a few wooden bridges too. It's great enrichment.

I will admit that it was a pain and a lot of screaming but I did put on together myself and that's when I fell in love with critter nation and now have three
@katbeckstead47373 жыл бұрын
My husband assembled our DCN. Also a little suggestion. Being as rats love lots of things to do play with an climb your going to find that the shelves are going to be annoying and in the way. I would take those out, it'll give you a lot more room to hang things for them. :)

I know this is a little old but if you haven't already I would just get rid of those built in ledges as they are just wasted space and you can just stuff more things in there. Also, I know you put puppy pads under the fleece, but keep an eye out for signs of URIs because fleece doesn’t always absorb enough. If they do seem to get sneezy/wheezy, it might be good to switch to kiln dried aspen bedding. That’s the most absorbent bedding I’ve found.
