I got 3 rescue rats. 1 really light one with red eyes, 1 black & white with grey and i have a naked rat. They have a huge birdcage now. Starts from the floor and it’s around 1,60 meter high. I ordered a lot of stuff already for them and there is still some stuff coming. They are so tame already🐭

They are sosooo cute! Makes me want baby rats again! Just a tip, you should not use an air purifier with an ionizer (or ozonitor) with rats (or pets in general), because it is not very good for their respiratory system. It is better to look for one with only a HEPA filter/carbon filter :)

They are all soo cute!! The one with the curly/rough hair (Sage) are what people call rex rats, so she might be one. They also have curly whiskers. The brownish one (Topaz) is most likely a lilac and the grayer one (Ruby) is a blue :) 🐭 ❤️

Don't feed them sweetened banana chips. Ours get the unsweetened kind as a treat here and there but not regularly because those still contain a lot of sugar. They get baby food as a reward when learning tricks, the savory kinds.

Just a tip, when you first get them you shouldn’t touch them because it stresses them. They already are in so much stress with the new home and new stuff. So you should just leave them for the first few days :)

That's not always true. A good breeder will have them accustomed to people. I have some rats that didn't want to leave my hand the first day with me and others yes needed time alone it depends on rat and their upbringing. But as a general rule yes.

Best tip I've learned from owning rats: SMALL BOXES!! If you cut the flaps off of a shoe-sized box then cut u shaped holes on the sides on the box when you flip it upside down its a chew toy and a hide! or you can flip the box right-side up and put fleece inside to make a bed! I also have cut different sized holes in boxes and stuck them together to make a little play castle! My rats ignore all the stuff we bought for them and only play in the boxes.

I recommend getting a cereal storage container for the food! Usually they’re really big because they can hold about 1 1/2 cereal boxes and they’re air tight. (If you can’t get ahold of them it was just an idea 🙂)

Rat mama to six here (three 15 months old, three 4 months old) and I wanted to say that your care prep looks amazing, I love your food mix and how many hammocks you have. Your babies are so freaking cute, I hope they make you really happy. Also you can help with the smell by using a wood-based bedding instead of fleece like kiln-dried pine or aspen (never cedar, it's toxic). Fleece has to be washed at least once a week because of the ammonia build up, but wood in either shavings or pellets will neutralize ammonia and last longer. Though once they're fully litter trained that'll help, too! Litter training saves my life lol. Also your rough-textured rat is a rex. That's the fur type, it's curly and rougher than standard coat, and she should also have curly whiskers. I love rex coat types. There are no rat breeds, only varieties. I'm not good at identifying coat colors, but your grays are actually a shade of blue, maybe Russian blue? I have a sky blue and she's gorgeous, her back is like a robin's egg. Your brown ones are probably an agouti variant, but there are other options so I'm not sure. All three of them are also dumbo because their ears are on the sides of their heads instead of the top. I love dumbos, their tiny faces are too cute! I only have one, but she's so cute I die for her daily. Your red eyed rat is not a marten because she's too light colored for that, she's just a ruby eyed variant. Keep an eye on her because red eyed rats often have even poorer eyesight than normal, but it might not affect her too much.

Just a tip, ur Christmas rope, untie the middle knots n itll give u much more rope space!!! I got a dog rope pully thing with a huge knot n rubber handle, took all that apart except the end knots n gave me a HUGE 6-7ft rope!!! Love ur names, I also have a ruby n a skye n mya 🥰
