The habits series from Aman is the greatest educational series I've watched as far as KZbin is concerned. The tips and lessons he gives for FREE from a GM is insane

disagree, not really clean stuff hanging pieces, tactis or forced checkmates like at 12:39

This series could single handedly inflate the low elo bullet pool by 100%, Aman is a generational talent for bullet education

@@boeingfish yes I know Ne7. Follow the line though: ne7+, kh8, nxc6, , bxc3, Bxc6 basically you fork and take the queen, but the opponent does not recapture your knight but takes your queen with their bishop. You could play Qxc6, Bxc6 first and then give the fork on e7, and win a free bishop. But of course there's mate in the position lol

Ha, he covers it at 14:07. Apparently that would have counted as a "tactic", so he didn't play it since one of his rules at this level is that no tactics are allowed.

The point of the series is that he doesn't have to pay a lot of attention outside of the rules he's teaching. He is ignoring the mate on purpose.

Maybe I'm blind but at 5:08 when you capture white's knight with your knight to me it looks like you hung your queen against black dark squared bishop. Am I blind or did the opponent miss that one?

Why should we give away all the pieces? In case opponent flags, it’s a draw not a win.
@andresfontalvo17
@andresfontalvo17 9 ай бұрын
But, what if they don't flag? the thing is that with fewer pieces you increase the chances of a stalemate. So if you're gonna abide by one simple rule this minimizes the loss of rating points. Having said that if you notice that your opponent is more likely to timeout, by all means keep pieces on the board. but if it's not yet a habit it takes time to determine that, and the goal of the habits is roughly to streamline decision making, meaning start by making the fewest context specific decisions. Once you master the more general rules, you can start going case by case. I have not seen the next rule-sets, but I imagine he will address this kind of cases in higher elo

i dont udnerstand why you say its 400 to 800 but then you do 400 to 600 then 600 to 800 Then 800 to 1000? shouldnt you follow 400 to 800 800 to 1100 1100 to 1400 1400 to 1200+ Stop breaking them up even further. It's annoying and makes no sense. Throws me off and its like oh wow i gotta wait longer for you just to do another 100 to 200 elo? When you could've just did 400 to 800 or 800 to 1100.. Wtf is 800 to 1000? When it specificallly says 800 to 1100. Stop wasting our time
