This is LITERALLY exactly what I always wanted when I was just starting. Concrete rules in a concrete order. I hated so much when I'd hear "oh break that rule here because x," "Oh, no, x doesn't apply here because y," "No, y is irrelevant in this position because z" Okay fine, but I didn't know. And there are 1000 other reasons to break 1000 other rules, and before you know it you might as well not have rules at all. I also love that Aman is willing to take losses in these positions because if I was a 400 today, I'd be asking "why did this lose?" and over time I'd ARRIVE at the answers, and find out WHY I'm breaking the rules and once I've found out WHY, then I'd know WHEN. I almost feel ike I'll benefit from watching all of these simply so I can unlearn some of the "imaginary" rules I developed to explain exceptions and exceptions to exceptions and so on.

This is amazing! My one critique of Naroditsky's (excellent) education speedrun series was that he knew what would work and let that guide him to pick the winning option among multiple potential principles that he could have applied. Knowing how to pick that winning option when other principles seemed equally plausible but would eventually lose is a skill I don't have, which is why I'm 1000 rated not 3000 rated. It's refreshing to see an even more fundamental approach of sticking to principles even when it costs you games, because that's a more realistic picture of how we low-rated players actually play. Great series, looking forward to more.

Great series. I really like how unlike other GM vs 400 series Aman doesn't mind losing a game here and there to show people that it's fine and they shouldn't get discouraged. Very often instructional content boils down to the "Just make a good move 4Head" and this is a wonderful exception.

I find it awesome that you follow your own rules and lose with it more often than not, especially in your first games. It's not about winning, it's about learning. And when one tries something new, it usually goes that way...

If I become a gm in chess com would I want to play real games or just play in chess com? Now don’t say me 700. I’m a 750 I’m 750+ accept bullet And I’ve got a brilliant move too I can show you the game

You’re a 700 rated player. You might as well ask if you were an astronaut orbiting the earth at 20,000 Km/hr how you’d divide your time between scientific research and chess.

This is excellent for beginners! I think at some point there should be a rule "always take en passant if you can, because such an exciting opportunity happens very rarely"
@GreenHope423 жыл бұрын
When you offer it and it's declined it's like giant rejection. Then your mind goes, do they know about the En Passant rule?

The way Hambleton explains "Would a 400 think of this? No" actually helps so much, I feel like I've been overthinking a lot of what I'm doing with the game and that lead me to where I'm at now. Here.

I thought this was a smart approach to help with strategy. And I think you should continue these as the rating build. Increasing the level you are playing to match your rating category. Would really be interested to see you do this for the next few levels. Introducing those tactics, and whats to look for as you implement Drop those beats.. wubz wubz

It's like magic how you eventually get a better position and win with ease following this simple plan. Went from 1100 to 1200 in a day. Thank you for this series.

To all the people who think this is not useful! It is extremely useful to the low elo players like me! Thank you so much chessbrah for this content and we all appreciate the effort gone into this series

This is a really unique way of showing growth and improvement in chess - rather than just a typical rating climb, that many other channels have done. Nothing wrong with them at all, but it’s great to see you’ve put your own spin on it. Like Danya’s “speedrun” where he plays 2 games in half an hour and analyses the hell out of it, or Gotham’s “how to win at chess” where he shows what he thinks you should do at specific rating levels. Awesome content, can’t wait for the rest of it - intrigued to see how my own rating is challenged, I know I miss tactics or sometimes see great ones, but I can still make blunders and sometimes even miss my opponents blunders if I’m not familiar with the positions
