My 3 year old niece started nursery in Jan,she always come back tired, last week I called her and she said aunty I don’t want to talk now I’m tired,to say I’m proud of her is an understatement she is setting those boundries, just because I wanted to talk to her at that moment it did’nt mean she had to comply, kids are really good at saying no but as grown ups we find it difficult but Iam slowly learning to say no and not feeling guilty.

This is very difficult in a Nigerian home tho. Your parents feel obligated to always be in your space.

This was a very eye opening conversation. I was always angry with my boyfriend, I always felt rejected instead of respecting his boundaries, I thought he is selfish but now I realise that I do not have boundaries and because of that I was unable to can respect someone else's boundaries. I was always available to his requests even when I felt like sayinh NO. Now I see the importance of boundaries and self-love

Thank you so much Mpoomy. You have taught a lot and I’m still learning. My journey to self love has been very hard but as I’m learning I am losing a lot of people and also this journey has taught me a lot and specifically letting go of my baby daddy and choosing myself. That man has walked in and out of my life as he pleases. I so wanted to come to the festival but I had to choose my child over everything because letting go of that man means child support is not guaranteed, but I know the next festival I’ll definitely make it. I love your wisdom and that you are sharing it with us. Thank you so much

Hi Mpoomy, Truly love this topic. I also spent my 29th birthday by myself, took a day off, went to a spa, journaling and did a lot of reflections and I truly enjoyed myself. I will always advocate for solitude, self discipline and consistency. I have learned with building healthy boundaries for me was learning to be a convenient friend, sister or colleague, it was costly and draining at some point. The joy in saying NO nje when you don't have capacity without feeling guilty.

This is relatable, I used seek for validation from people, and struggled to maintain friendships because I always wanted to stand out. I used to stress a lot about being loved or seen by my friends or family. I then developed a relationship with myself, love myself and put myself first. Now I can say no without feeling any guilt that I will lose a friendship. I’m content with myself and doing things that make myself happy. This has helped me grow in different spaces, business, corporate and personal.
