Do you do the look Dev first (in the post clip tab) before starting the grade in the clip tab? I'm using a non-managed workspace and use CST's. I find once I've set the correct Input & Output CST, working on the Look dev FIRST, lets me see 'the look' more clearly without disturbance from that individual's clip grade.. if you see what I mean?!

October 31, 2022: There appears to be no way to acquire your Colloid at www.colloid.cc; as well as your "Master Bundle" from colloid.cc/master-bundle. Check your web server's 404 logs for missing destinations to /master-bundle, which are linked from all five of your TOOLS pages.

Hi Cullen, I like the tone splitting concept however I have been also taught to recover pure blacks at some point of grading by balancing them. This seems to work counter effective with your method, would you mind commenting that? thanks.

Only footage I have to practice with is old .R3D footage from my 2017 senior film. It was shot super devoid of color, so I'm having a hard time knowing if the footage is just useless to me in the RGB curve step or if I should be more bold in pushing it to get what little color we did have there.

@@CullenKelly I guess I don't know where to start to get depth from something that is rather flat in composition and color. Is that a matter of cranking contrast/curve until things separate?

great video series! very much enjoying watching all these and looking forward to catching up to the grade school part! Was just wondering why you choose to add greens and blues separately to create cyan in the shadows rather than just decreasing reds? is it just to have more control over the hue of the colour you are introducing or is there another reason? Thanks :)

@@CullenKelly ahh very interesting. Hadn't even considered the effect it would have on the prior curve nodes. Brilliant, thanks for the reply!

Hi! Michael here again, is there a reason that you prefer to do this with curves as opposed to LOG, Lift/Gain or HDR wheels? I would love to know. Do you find the curves more precise in terms of how you can limit what part of the spectrum it effects?
