I really do appreciate companies like ECD and Singer for example who modernise classics, it’s such a beautiful niche and I think really helps people appreciate the styling of old cars but with modern sensibilities.

The series 1 is where it’s at…..with the covered headlights, the different grill and turn signals upfront, and better looking tail lights above the bumper. That’s the car to get!
@ohedd Жыл бұрын
Yea I'm surprised there are people out there whose favorite isn't series 1. The rear too, with the slim tail lights over the rear bumper instead of fat ones below it.
@Drcfan Жыл бұрын
In my opinion the covered headlights look worse, the front grill is too small and its all over out of proportion, there is no V12 option, only the rear i find better looking on the series 1 @@ohedd

Kind-of agree, given the better aesthetics styling of the S1. The S3 became very cheap and more accessible to people. I remember being offered an S3 for 700 uk pounds. Things have changed with the S1s fetching big money..

I could suggest a company who’s KZbin channel is a favourite of mine where they to bespoke resto mods with incredible craftsmanship. In fact they have a couple of e-type projects on the go. Except I believe the waiting list is about 4 years with a typical project taking almost 2 years. You can have built exactly the dream car you’ll want. But I get this set up where it’s 6 months? Personally if I had the resources to go for one of these. I don’t think the Ricardo seats suit an E type at all. Like you went for non white wall. Being a car inspired by the D type, no front grill. Perhaps the horizontal spar. I could always imaging either the sound of the straight 6 or the v12, v8 sounds weird for this car. as for Electric, I could screw my nose at the idea, but I haven’t experienced actually driving a classic with electric so I’ll reserve comment because my initial prejudices may well be wrong without trying one for myself.

There is a place for these gorgeous automobiles. The styling of the classic E-type with the modernity and reliability of modern engines and electronics. Hey, save all the original parts, just in case. I had a 74, series 3, hardtop, pale primrose with a black interior. I loved that car, but there was always something going wrong. So, I can see the appeal of these "tribute" jags. Petrol power for me, though. Silver with red leather, please.😊

@rustler08 Жыл бұрын
What production V12 exists that's well-sorted and easily accessible? The stock V12 is in no way well-sorted, and it's a pretty lame engine all around. The Mercedes V12 are mechanical monsters that are atrociously-expensive to maintain, and Aston Martin V12s are expensive and made of two V6s. The Mercedes is probably the best option, but they would be extremely difficult to source
