I had to wait 8-9m to get a hold of the vice as there were a lot of supply chain issues. I believe he currently has them in stock to ship within a few days. Installation, especially if you want to recess the acrylic flush, can be a bit tricky. Regardless, totally worth it. It's an awesome vise.

That's insane. I guess that slab top has cost more in purple heart than I have spent on all my woodworking projects combined (okay yeah, I'm just at the start of woodworking, but it's been a busy year even so). If I may ask, what was the cost of all that purple heart? And also, your videos are crazy good. Well structured, editing is VERY good, and everything you do is neatly explained and showed. I'll give you 2-3 more years and then you'll be up there with Rob Cosman, Rex Krüger etc.

This is a really cool, unique design, and I bet it will age beautifully! The fishing line tip for detecting twist is great-I'm assuming if there is twist, that there would be a gap between the two lines where they meet, right? Thanks for another quality video :)
@WoodcraftBySuman3 жыл бұрын
That is exactly right. If there is twist from corner to corner, there will be visible gap between the strings. Sometimes you have to swap the bottom string with the top just to make sure one isn’t pushing the other down when they’d normally be further apart. If you’re ever making a router flattening rail setup on sawhorses, the exact same technique can be used to make sure the rails are complaner. So when you go to flatten the slab, it’ll be perfectly flat.

Enjoyed the fun transitions. That’s a BEEFY workbench top. I live near 3M headquarters and many friends work there. Their adhesives and abrasives are used everywhere around us. Chances are if someone has dental work they have 3M glue in there. All of our cars are sanded with 3M product too. Automotive industry uses insane amounts of abrasives.
@WoodcraftBySuman3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. 3M has a huge presence in abrasives and adhesives space. For such seemingly mundane products, they sure innovate quite a lot. Love it

That is a great build for a bench and very inspiring. I love the metal wood look also. I have to ask are you thinking in the future of adding drawers or more shelving?
@WoodcraftBySuman3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The space is very commendable to a cabinetry addition for storage. Though, I may not pursue it because I’ll be adding a ton more storage under my French cleat wall. I’ll probably use the bench space to hold commonly used jigs instead. It’s all up in the air though.

The 3M cubitron abrasives are stupidly good ... I'm broke but I refuse to use anything else after trying them. They last so much longer than the cheap ones it actually makes 0 sense to go cheap. And if you use a rubber cleaning bar to clean them they last even longer ... and when you're done using them with the ROS you can still use them by hand lol. Those things are insane.
@WoodcraftBySuman3 жыл бұрын
I agree with everything you said and will add that the cross type shape of the abrasive to non-abrasive ultimately produces a more random scratch pattern than a conventional sandpaper. It truly is a more superior sandpaper and I look forward to transitioning to them completely as my festool granat paper runs out.
