thanks for all your time in filming and building this bike very much appreciated. the internal guides for brake hoses are a massive upgrade from version 2. That was really hard for me to fish the front brake hose through the fork. Seems so much easier to build now. Great work winspace! ♥️

should have added some foam tubing over the rear brake hose to stop internal rattling.

The SLC3 looks like a beautiful bike with a really nice weight and quality for the price. However, it has one big flaw in my opinion, the headtube is 1 1/2", so it is very limited in compatibility for customisation to make the bike even lighter. They should have gone a bit more standard with 1 1/8" or at least 1 1/4" to increase compability.
@thewattlife

I don’t know much about this but seems like something i should look into, thanks for sharing
@jespernohr

@@thewattlife the unwritten standard was 1 1/8". Canyon loves 1 1/4". Chinese brands tend to be 1 1/2". SO the real losers are us consumers and the companies making 3rd party parts. It becomes a jungle, sadly. My Yoeleo R12 is also 1 1/2" so I just went with their internal headset. Luckily they have released a stem the solves a few of the issues, but not all. Basically, the jist is that there are no standard anymore.

On your Winspace SLC 3.0 frame want would you say is the "max" tire clearance that you could ride on it. The website 32mm but when I look at videos looks like there could be more room.
@thewattlife
@thewattlife Ай бұрын
Good question. Let me have a look and get back to you. Might be hard to be super specific as I can’t quite measure it and a 32 on a 25mm internal is a pretty wide road choice
@rd2783
@rd2783 Ай бұрын
@@thewattlife yeah I saw a video of a 28mm on that frame and still looked like a massive room for tires. Trying to figure out what the buffer is within reason, such as 2mm on each side for clearance? This would be for offroad, light gravel riding.

Max, fascinating to watch a build like this step by step. Did you build many bikes in the past? Did you learn by trial and error or did you get trained by a bike mechanic?
@thewattlife
@thewattlife 4 ай бұрын
I learnt everything from youtube and relying on my slightly ADHD personality which get s a bit hyper fixated. haha This will be my 3rd full bike build and perviously ive only done one disc brake bike which was slightly easier as Sram have a lot of good tutorials and make things easy with the way things are produced. The BB86 pressfit was completely new and just a bit scary for someone whos never done it or seen it being done, but its in and works great.

@foobsTon a bike shop will charge you about £30 to install a press fit BB and £15 to cut a steerer tube. Other than that there isn’t anything that can’t be taken apart and re-done. You just need a bunch of alan keys and a torque wrench 👌🏻

When I ordered my Sram group set OEM they didn’t provide any screws as they said chain stays can have different depths. So I had to go in another website and specify my chainstay depth and order bolts separately accordingly.

Jeez mate, I know we all have to start somewhere but you certainly went about making that build as hard as possible for yourself. 10/10 for having the balls to to give it a go! Maybe before you do the next one watch some KZbin videos on how to build a bike from scratch! 😂😂. We all make mistakes. I've been doing it for years and still make them. I think you were more bothered about creating content than doing the job. Next time you should build the bike without the camera running. Take it apart. Then do it again with the camera running! Piss poor preparation = piss poor performance! Well done for getting it together in the end. 👍😊

@@thewattlife And you learned a lot. It's a win win. Thing is, a task has to be carried out, fitting pedals to cranks for example! Easy! If you watch 10 pro mechanics they'll all have their own way of doing it. There's no right or wrong way, there's just the way you're happy and comfortable with. You got the bike built, and made content and the bike is a dream to ride. There's no negatives. Great film, well done again. Keep em coming 👍😊

I loved your T1550 content and look forward to this SLC3.0 videos. I just built up a T1550 and love it but how do you like the SLC3.0 so far? If you had to choose between both bikes which one would you pick? Is the SLC really a do it all bike like the Tarmac SL 8 or is it more of a climbing but that has some aero abilities? Also did Winspace change the geo like they did for their current bikes and the 2nd gen T1550 or does this mirror the old SLC2.0 geo?
@thewattlife
@thewattlife 4 ай бұрын
Firstly, i think it LOOKS FANTASTIC. It looks like a bicycle and i love it for that reason. So this might sound crazy but on my first ride in my head i was like "this bike sits lower to the ground than the T1550" so i came home and measured the distance from the BB to the ground on both and i *think the geometry has the chain stays/fork angle set and you end up 10mm lower. The fork angle is more upright though so the riding position isnt as aggressive obviously. I havent been able to get hold of the white paper for the official geometry yet though. Will definitely review the SLC v's the T1550 Gen 1 after a few weeks on the road

@@thewattlife awesome. I know you probably only had a few rides on the new bike but can’t wait for a comparison. How’s the stiffness? I sold my Aethos frame to build the T1550 because I don’t climb that much where I live and because the stiffness on the Aethos was terrible.

Unfortunately at the moment i cant afford to run two bikes at the same time. I have to use the disc brakes, cranks, pedals and chainrings from my T1550. So other than those the T1550 is still built and if i can find them cheap i can run two bikes. but honestly i think in a few weeks ill put the Sram Force on the SLC 3.0 and run that as my main bike as i just think it looks so great and i want to compare it to the Specialized SL8

I know this will be considered a boring yawny yawn kind of comment. But I'm sad they didn't make a rim brake version of this frame considering weight was their primary concern. I even reckon that's why it has BB86 instead of T47 to save weight. This frame would of been a prime reason for rim for a climbing machine. Great video all the same

It is a shame- and yes, I think the reason they kept it BB86 rather than T47 was to save weight. The truth is, brands like EnVe stopped making rim brakes because they have a life time warranty and rim brake users never had to buy another set of wheels as could always just keep returning them plus the build cost is more I should imagine. Having to build in a brake track. Frame manufacturers are following along with this. The death of the rim brake is being lead by wheel manufacturers

It's all about sales numbers unfortunately. Moulds cost money to produce and if they're not selling, manufacturers won't make them. I believe you can still buy the 2.0 in rim brake.
