Absolutely beautiful work! I came to your video to see how a bookcase should be made to reflect true craftsmanship and artistry. While I may not be able to attain your level of workmanship for my first attempt at building a bookcase, you have given me a goal to aspire to. Thank you for a very well-explained video. Your solution is breathtaking.

Thank you Wes for this information. The simple step by step for putting together a really nicely finished shelf unit is just what I needed to start my own living room wall shelving project. Regards Tony

Thanks for taking the time to share your wisdom with us by making these videos! I love seeing a job done properly and these little detail pieces are so easily overlooked when designing. Do you have a website/page where you list the different tools that you use? Would love to know what the professionals are using!

Hi Wes... Thank you for your response! Obviously, the height of your book case is limited by your ceiling height... Based on your case height, how do you determine an aesthetically pleasing case width??? I've been told that proportions are everything in furniture building!

Hi Wes... Loved this build! Do you have a set of plans?

That little narrow section that looks like it's about 4" would have made a terrific secret compartment, if the homeowner had decided to do that.

Did you mention the stain/dye you used? This is gorgeous.

It is Sherwin Williams Sherwood Stain with a custom color mix. Thanks for the compliment...glad you liked it, I do too :))

Can I ask, are you using Baltic Burch plywood for the body and Burch for the face frames. I really want to build something like this. Your work is beautiful.

Hi Chris...the veneer panels and solid wood faces are all cherry wood. Good luck with your project, it will be great. Thanks Wes

Very nice work, and great explanation. What were the materials used? Is that red oak?
@WoodworkingWithWes4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much...it is cherry with a stain and lacquer finish. I appreciate you visiting.

The final profile of the side looks different than what was shown in the video. What did you do to give the 'stepped down' look as it transitions from the frame to the panel? Rout an ogee profile?
@WoodworkingWithWes4 жыл бұрын
Shawn...yes there was a small ogee molding added to the inside of the frame against the panel. This was a customer requested add-on after our initial build. Thanks for visiting...hope this helps.

Did you scribe the filler strip to the wall?

Yes I did. Thank you for watching and your continued support.

I can't find a single video on KZbin that shows the build and install for solid wood raised wall paneling. Any chance you've got a custom order ready to go!? 😂
@WoodworkingWithWes4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick...solid wood raised wall paneling is not a request that I have had but I will keep my eyes open for opportunities in the future and tag you.

Deserved a so much better home than that dinky little room.
@WoodworkingWithWes3 жыл бұрын
The room was a client's office space and the bookcases were built in an effort to maximize their use. Thanks very much.
@brianrezarch74774 жыл бұрын
sorry i think that design looks tacky, you may want to try screwing your cabinets together and you may not have to worry about extra support
@WoodworkingWithWes4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your input. The bookcases are screwed together and screwed to the wall and would in most cases be just fine. After reviewing the client's storage desires the supports were added to satisfy his concerns and my liability.
