I've been building our personal PCs since last century, but there's always more to learn as tech changes so fast. This video is great because it explains why Paul made his choices, so it's an easy way to keep up. ~ If you use your PC for more than gaming, then one item to add to this build is a hard disk for data storage-of course, it can also hold all your photos, music, videos etc.

Hey Paul, This build is awesome! I was going to purchase a new computer for my wife but after watching your videos, decided to build a new gaming machine and give her my old gaming laptop. What a machine! No more lagging, getting killed and being the last one into an area. Your tutorials were excellent. Very easy to follow making assembly a snap. I took your recommendation and purchased an ASUS X570 motherboard with WiFi. (It made me read the MB instructions since the pin connectors were in different locations from the B450 Tomahawk.) Fired it up and everything worked great. Only nagging issue is Microsoft 10 Pro limits customization until a product key is purchased. (I have one on the way.) Your cost estimate was spot on. I was able to build my set up for $1,100. Thanks Again!

A year later and I can't thank you enough for these recommendations last winter/spring Paul. I purchased all my hardware before parts started becoming scarce. The only things I did differently were investing in a 1TB Intel 660p NVMe drive (which has been GREAT) and buying a Sapphire RX 5600 XT because my gaming needs are modest and I wanted a silent build. Case, CPU, mainboard... everything else has been great. I'm glad I built what I did when I did. We moved to work from home and have been online since so the new rig came in SUPER handy. Great advice!

I built my computer based on this build, most of the components. I was able to keep it under $750. Using a new MSI Tomahawk B450 MAX and Ryzen 5 3600x, a used XFX 5700 thic GPU, bad mistake, it was loud and overheated. I also used a semi-modular Corsair 650 bronze PU. Somehow the GPU, PU, and the motherboard failed. So I built another using a new B450 MAX, a Corsair gold certified fully modular 850 PU, and a new Gigabyte RX 5700 XT OC, added a 1Tb m.2 and 2 more sticks of ram, 32mb total. I have a question when I try to build this in pcpartpicker they say that the cpu (AMD Ryzen 5 3600x) is not compatible with the motherboard (MSI B450 Tomahawk max). It says this: Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions. What does this mean?

Nice build, just ordered my upgrade care package , Msi x470, 2600, h45, wd blue nvme and 16gb of Patriot Viper 3200. Massive upgrade from my Haswell system. The whole lot was £360 inc vat and delivery ! What really surprised me was the price differences with the UK and US . The ram really shocked me, I paid £62 for mine but the G Skill stuff is extortionate here ( £159 ) for what you used. Corsair is also cheap here. The AMD chips are always cheaper here too.
