My biggest complaint about the cases in 2024 is them giving use one USB-C port.

Absolutely agree, at this point, 2x USB-A and 4x USB-C at the front make more sense.
@xXEPIKgamerXx Жыл бұрын
Most mobos only have one USB C header, unless you want to covert your 5Gb 3.0s to C somehow. The actual problem is that most front USB C ports(OR rather the cables) are only 3.2 gen 2(10Gbs) while most current gen mobos have have 3.2 2x2 (20Gbs) now. If anything they should be future proofing for USB4 (40Gbs) before the mobos get there.

Nice to see what Cooler Master are tinkering with - those PSU's are nice and they seem to be reaching for quite crazy specs. I had a CPU upgrade recently, making good on the AM4 upgrade path.. never thought I'd get to it but I made the jump from my initial 1600 to a more recent 5700x, all on the same B350F board, and happily still rocking my Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition to tame it.

Interesting idea about square tubing and it looks cool! Pedantically, a water molecule is triangular in geometry so maybe water moves slightly more readily through the square tubing rather than the round tubing. I say this because I worked as a forest firefighter long ago, and dealt with long hose lays on steep slopes, which presented hydraulic problems when forced to pump water up slope. The fix? Simple detergent in the water to break surface tension.

I'm not an electrician and only know enough about this stuff to embarrass myself but isn't European 220V a single phase 220 line and North American 240V, actually 2 - 120V lines which are 90 degrees out phase? Those shouldn't be the same thing. What kind of power supply do you have that uses North American 240V?
@wayland7150 Жыл бұрын
@@brutus6574 The American electric is 240vac but arrives at the house via a transformer with a centre tap. The 120vac is when you use one side or the other side and the centre tap. That's what goes to lights and sockets. However the cooker, tumble dryer and other heavy loads do not use the centre tap but the two 'live' connections giving the full 240vac. It is possible to have actual 240vac sockets which would be fine for computers because they all accept it.
@brutus6574 Жыл бұрын
@@wayland7150 Thanks for the explanation. I vaguely remember that now that you've mentioned it. Are these the wall sockets you occasionally see that have the live plug perpendicular to the return ? Are those 15/20AMP 240 vs the 40 AMP going to the dryer? I might have learned something new today Either way way I guess you need a special cord that doesn't come with a standard power supply,
@wayland7150 Жыл бұрын
@@brutus6574 I don't have first hand experience of the American 240vac system so I don't know what the socket looks like. It will have the voltage printed on it if it's not the usual one. All computers will accept 240vac because the power supplies are designed to cope with a 90 to 240vac range so they work with the electric in any country. The reason why the higher voltage is better is that you can draw the same power with less current. Current is what requires thicker cabling and stronger components. If you have equipment that draws over 3kw then you may need special cables. In the UK we can plug in equipment that draws 3kw.

MSI is working on the Pro B650 12VO WiFi and the Pro H610M 12VO MBs as well as at least one 12VO PSU to go along with them but you didn't mention anything from CM on this front. Looks like you missed the CM NR200P V2. Maybe it wasn't there the day you filmed this? I saw someone else at CES show it. I was highly anticipating it and waiting on it as I really like the older one but it was missing USB C on the top/front panel. They added that, but disappointed it's now a riser and seems like it won't work with the air cooler I want to use. Really bummed as I was thinking we'd get an upgrade with at least USB C and maybe other improvements, but they really limited it's use. Now back to square 1 for figuring out a case, I might just go with the older version and either mod a USB C in or just use the one on the back of the motherboard. I REALLY like the size and ease of building in it as I bought the older one for my daughter to build in and when I helped her I got extremely jealous of the case. LOL

Wouldn't the square tubing create such a harsh bend for the liquid to flow past that pumps will have to work harder to push the liquid through? Meaning pumps will have to get a boost in power or they're going to burn out a lot faster. So I don't know how I feel about their water cooling. I mean performance and cost are going to be the main determining factor for the radiator and water block. But aesthetically, the radiator and CPU water block look really similar to EK. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but isn't great either. I feel like the radiator is a missed opportunity in general it is clear that the side panels are screwed in so just selling them with two black and two silver that you can swap out would be better rather than the half-and-half they are doing now. Especially, if they also sold additional siding separately with additional colors and finishes. I also don't like that it is just the sides and not also the ends but it isn't a deal breaker. I also want more finishes on the fittings. When it comes to water cooling I feel like options are important. And while the square tubing is certainly unique I don't feel sold on it.

In regards to flat pack cases, if someone made a good quality flat pack ATX case I'd buy a bunch. I build PC's to order as a side business and it is pretty rare that the customer wants a specific case. What it normally comes down to is what fits in the budget, what the customer likes the looks of or what I choose. I frequently choose the case I have previously built in and know it will be easy to build in. Cases are too bulky for me to stock any. I always have to buy them for each build. If I was able to stock a case and establish familiarity with the build process it would reduce how long it takes me to build a PC, assuming the time to assemble the case is not onerous. I'm sure there are other people who build PC's as side gigs who are in the same situation.
