Super helpful tips - way more use than the in-game tutorials. Thanks from a fellow New Zealander!

Keep these videos coming they are very helpful. How many territories would you say is optimal per city? I’ve been doing about 4 sometimes 5. I like to play on large maps and I’m finding the low city cap a challenge - I think they should scale in some way with your map size.

Yeah if you’re playing non large maps then ending up with around 4-5 per city sounds about right to me! I like to go for around 3 myself. Don’t forget, the Persians in the Classical Era give +2 city cap too!

What we move around in a city is not technically population/people - it's workers in worker slots (jobs). And it is quite possible/common to over-populate a city (exceed it's population capacity). Those people over the cap not only don't do anything - they consume extra food.

Request for the next overexplained vid - airplanes: how rebasing, carriers (nope, I haven't ever used them =] ) work, how it differs with more modern planes, fighters v. bombers, how bombers can level a city in one go cleaning way to setting up your outpost as the replacement ^^ Seriously, it's painful to move planes from one place to another ^^

One day Jumbo will be taking on challenges of "Starting off with a city in a barren wasteland, Humankind difficulty." And he will make it look so easy, why didn't we think of it?

I have trouble deciding how greedy I can be with emblematic districts/buildings: early game I aim for two cities with 1 or two outposts and try to build said districts in all of them. That seems too greedy. Can you help?

Is it possible to force the opponent to give you a city without war? Like in Civ6, where they lose loyalty and the city becomes yours.

Kind of: 1. Unstable cities produce rebel units. 2. Rebels can takeover cities and pop more rebels. 3. You can take over rebelled city: either by force or by building relation with the city and absorbing it to your empire. Fun facts: 1. If your influence hurt you can liberate a city (many cities) to go below the city cap. Liberated city behaves like a city taken over by rebels. 2. If you occupy a city and rebels take it over after which you take it over it's no longer considered occupied. So take this: there is a long war, occupied city stability drops, rebels pop (say - loyalist spawn), they win, you win the city back, your opponent won't ever mention about this city, war score is saved, I have no idea how it makes sense ^^

A grievance can be generated if an opponent/AI settles on your border. You can then demand the territory as reparation for the insult to your sovereign integrity. Sometimes the AI will accede to your demand. I do not yet understand/know all the factors around this aspect of gameplay, but I'm sure someone does. Check Jumbo's back catalogue. or better yet, if you haven't already, catch his live stream. Ask any member of The Olmec Gang for tips/pointers/info and they will be happy to laugh at your ignorance. No...not really :-). Come along and learn all you need to play this very exciting and satisfying game. I hope to see you there, it's superb fun.

So if I'm playing on Xbox, does the game automatically fill the roles for farming, industry, and science? Does anyone have any tips on army scaling through the eras?
