Gotta get a back gate on the Hamilton exp.. near the ferris wheel would be a great opportunity.. for seamless integration, safety (park is fenced in), and access to small lookout. Love the build!
@titaniadioxide61332 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree with that - a back entrance with a small parking lot would be great for adults without kids, who want to avoid the family area, or people who want to visit both the Eye and the Hamilton Experience

To avoid claustrophobia and give a wider vision of the amenities in the new Hamilton Experience, I suggest that you downgrade the central path going through the park so there won't be trees there. The side paths look nice, but atm I think it is a bit much as a whole

This might have been my favorite build yet. Phil's excitement really came through. The real life examples, the tips for getting nice 45 angles on the roads, the mix use of props and buildings. *chef's kiss*
@owenmergliano81602 жыл бұрын
I think that there should be a second entrance facing the ocean to have ferry acess. It would mirror some amusement parks that I have gone to and would not have to be big. Also it would give the ferry network a reason to move outward besides to avoid collision. (edit: You could make another pier expansion in that landscaped area next to the London Eye and put the ferry stop there.)
@thebearded_guardian36712 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love the juxtaposition between new and old. The environment feels new and fresh, while some reminders are seen in the flooring of what old Hamilton Experience was like. Absolutely awesome. I really hope the metro station is placed smack in the middle of the hotels and the World Fair. Just imagine walking up the stairs to ground level and being greeted with the vista of lush and high end hotels, view of the skyline, and the World Fair. That would look amazing!
@ben03292 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love this build. The integration of the road to place the London Eye worked really well. As others have said a secondary entrance to the Hamilton Experince would work very well next to the London Eye. Also please don’t forget to include walking paths onto the key wall from the rest of the pier so people can actually use them

This was probably my favourite episode ever. I love this build. But a few critiques! I think the trees are too big along the centre path in the Hamilton experience. U cannot see any rides deep into the park. The bigger rides are probably more expensive, so the owner of the park would want full visibility of them IMO. The big trees look cool, but just too big. Also I believe right at the start when you rezoned residential, you cut off an existing path connection. I might not sleep tonight without knowing the path will be fixed 😩
@CityPlannerPlays2 жыл бұрын
Going to fix both of those things you mentioned!

A big ⛩️ Arch or ⛲ Focal point at the end of the Main Road/Collector would be the 🍒 cherry on top! Coming down that road, the line of sight would allow for distant viewing, and build anticipation for the destination. (Examples: Arc de Triomphe, France - St Louis Archway - Flatiron Building, NYC)

there is something in my mind you always say: culdesacs are bad for safety reasons. Well isnt this new hamilton experience a big culdesac? Will having the road along the amusement park now help firetrucks get to the park? Prior, there were only paths and so you were at the mercy of helicopter response. Hi Phil! So happy I stumbled across your channel which has become my newest hyper fixation! Wanted to mention that I really enjoyed the tucked-away feel of the haunted house in the old Hamilton Experience and would love to see that replicated again. I think centering the building and providing the previous landscaping would do well in breaking up the very parallel path network and separating the "adult" sections from the kids a bit better! 😊 Some rumblings of a new tourism mogul Teresa Tyrell putting some stock into the Expo by building her hotels near the pier... sounds like a new rival for Myrtle and Karen 👀👀👀

Fantastic episode, Phil! Love the redevelopment of the Hamilton Experience. I have an idea for the area behind the London Eye. Extend the area a bit to add the boat museum, the big ferry stop, another gate to the park and a metro station to connect the area to the metro plaza with a stop near the expo center. It would make the Hamilton pier an L shaped and you can name the new area "Its not a tumor".

I am not sure where it will fit in, but a model of a fully implemented Monona terrace would be sweet and such a good nod to FLW. BTW, no insurance company will cover a waterfront park anymore. There was an amusement park in Myrtle Beach, SC called the Pavilion right next to the Atlantic Ocean for many years. After Hurricane Andrew (I think or maybe Katrina) the insurance costs tripled and the park was no longer economically viable so it was dismantled. The last time I was there it was mostly an empty grassy lot. You can google information about it. It was a great park and I have many fond memories from my childhood there.

You really brought your “A” game to this build. Nicely done! The bare fields in front of the large buildings might serve as a gathering space or a promenade for street vendors (food carts, etc.). 25:23 I learnt a tip from an @overchargedegg video recently that might help you with problematic level heights when building near water. Make sure you pause the game as the undulation from the moving waves can mess up your height levels when building roads/placing piers etc. 😎
@saturnuria12172 жыл бұрын
I’m sure it’ll be picked up in the next episode, but do you need to check and amend your ferry and fishing paths now? I’m sure some of them used to go past the end of the old pier. Awesome work. It reminds me of a few places in the world. Darling Harbour in Sydney and The Quays in Salford, near Manchester.

You should put a road at the end of the pier and flip the eye to get better 360 views, because currently on the one side they are facing the coaster. Also with the road on the end you could place a ferry stop and add a back entrance. Lastly you should add some parking and public transport. I hope the expo buildings get some more love too

hopefully there is a metro or monorail line to the centre of the artificial peninsula; mainly because you have such a rich transit network, then it stops shy of the attractions (technically it wouldnt be as safe, having a metro go through landfill but its also a game, so lets suspend physics)

I don't know how much close to reality are you looking for in this series. I would guess that the water circulation would get stagnant between the amusement park and the beach due to the shape of the construction (view at 54:50). This might lead to trash and other debris accumulating in that bit of water, leading to bad smell, algal blooms and water that is not appealing to look at. This is just my guess. To get accurate results, you'll need CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) 😅
@iainjames3132 жыл бұрын
There's something magical about a pier isn't there? I wonder how in real life the three competing interests (Expo committee, hotel/tourism lobby, Hamilton Experience management) would have came out in terms of proximity to the water. In my view, the Hamilton experience got the prime bit of land here and the poor world fair people came out bottom, but I guess it has better proximity to transit and road access which would also be important. No parking though! The massively increased land values might even spur development on the proximal mainland.
