Great ! I am following another maker and video maker. For each step he add an explanation in writing on the video. It'd be useful because I lost a number of procedures. As an example how do you get the flap hinges already made in the cast ? Or what is the foil that you put over the carbon ? Till now I just saw the carbon and the resin bagged with no other laminating aid. I subscribed to the channel,I am tryng to keep moving since I was born with balsa and paper foil,not even the Oracover.

A beautiful build. Just a thought, might need to be careful on a hot, sunny day? There is a reason the full-size are always white. . .
@SebastienChedalBornu7 ай бұрын
It's funny how you configured it like a plane. Usually motors are option on gliders so we put motors on a two or three position switch because you generally want to climb not to have little throttle. and the throttle is used for airbrakes/crowbars this way we have full control of the speed. But really nice réalisation thanks for sharing and for the build/tips
@coriscotupi7 ай бұрын
It's a matter of personal preference. I like to have the motor on the throttle channel, and airbrakes on two or three position switches. But I get it that not everyone enjoys this configuration.

Beautiful work! Been out of the hobby for many many years but I was doing this same construction method, minus all the CNC stuff, 30 years ago. Never could get the finish on my wings to look as pretty right out of the bag though. I found over time I had problems with the carbon fiber delaminating from the foam after several years in storage. Is this a known issue and what is done now to keep that from happening?

Your skills are truly impressive. I am also planning to build a glider using carbon fiber. I used the 3K carbon fiber I have for a stiffness test. Like in your video, I made a single layer, but it was not strong and bent very easily. How strong and flexible are your wings? If I had made it, the wings would have broken during flight. There is no place to learn carbon fiber work where I live. Do you plan to make a detailed video on carbon fiber work?
@markoroolaid6 ай бұрын
Hello I myself try and experiment. In terms of power, the Black Mamba is certainly not a Hotliner, but still a thermal glider, which means that maneuvers must be done with feeling and not overload the plane. Since I see that there is a lot of interest in the carbon of airplanes, I will definitely make more detailed composite videos in the future

What kind of laser cutting machine are you using at 1:32? I was under the impression you couldn't cut carbon fibre with a laser, and if you did it'd make a lot of fumes. If it's CO2 what are the settings?
@markoroolaidАй бұрын
Yess it is a CO2 laser. In general, you can't cut carbon, but since it's very thin, you still manage somehow. I put cardboard moistened with water under the carbon cloth to prevent flames. Speed 20mm/s, power 100% 130w

I'm curious, what is your laser cutter ? CO2 or fiber?and what power ? I thought we couldn't cut carbon fiber with laser as for example you can burn carbon rod but only epoxy will burn leaving the carbon fibers
@prestonengebretson50437 ай бұрын
It is likely a Fiber Laser, as we have a 100w CO2 and it will not cut CF cloth. Let's hope he answers.
@markoroolaid7 ай бұрын
Yes, I use CO2 laser 130w. max cutting power and speed 40mm/s. only thin carbon fabric can be cut, up to 80g/m2. 200g/m2 fabric definitely won't cut it anymore.
