Gran Turismo 4 can run at 1080i on PS2. Which makes it one of few and a beautiful PS2 game.

Thank you Jay, THANK YOU, for mentioning Hot Shots Golf: Fore! I've played dozens of golf games since the early 90's to today, and nothing comes close to the masterpiece that is this golf game. It took me MONTHS of trial and error to finally achieve the "HSG Man" status, but it was one of my favorite achievements of any game period. It was INHUMANELY hard to achieve! But still a proud moment of mine! ⛳

GT4 also has an amazing soundtrack. What sets black apart for me is the world. The fact that practically everything is destructible in it really sets you in what feels like a real environment. However, any list for the PlayStation 2 that does not include a ratchet & clank game is invalid.

GT4 does have an amazing soundtrack that I forgot to turn off and had to play in reverse on the title card. R&C is my favorite series, you know that - I just wanted to shine some light on a different series for this video. :)

I'm so glad you had TMB and HSG on your list. I've personally put so much time into those games as they are truly a blast to play and hold up well today. Your selection of games were a great hit with me. I think one game I would add is Ace Combat 4. This and Madden 02 were the first 2 games I bought with the system 20+ years ago.

Onimusha 2 was one I played a ton as a kid. While I respect your views on tank controls, I absolutely love them! And while lothe that red label, a game like this is one that I'll have in my collection red label or not, it's that fun!

You could take the $100 list further by doing Loose only. I understand hardcore collectors hate loose or anything but complete, or even red labels, but you still get the game with just the disc. And can get many many discs for $100.

Hey buddy. Not sure if you would remember me, worked at EA with ya back around 2006 to 2009. Can not believe that I stumbled across your this last week or so. Watched a bunch of your videos... and I can say AWESOME JOB!!! And I'm not throwing not blame here or anything.... but since I watched your videos, I got hunger to play me some ps2... so I went out and bought me the slim version. Then I ran the sports gauntlet and bought tiger 05, madden 05 and of course nhl 05 !!!! Love it!! Congrats on the channel, and YES I have subscribed. Hope all is well with you and the family!!!

Great list Jay! Crash Nitro Kart is well worth grabbing up for a few dollars. It’s no MarioKart but it’s a lot of fun and if you look around at the thrift shops and yard sales you may find that one even cheaper. Dude! Black is an outstanding FPS! I have it on Xbox and played it through on my series x earlier this year and it’s smooth as silk and has a great story! 🤙🏻

Great list as always. Love the variety of games in your collection. If I was making the list it would include Beyond Good & Evil, Soul Calibur III, X-Men Legends, and Lego Star Wars. Those are my favorite PS2 games that had Greatest Hits releases. Those would still leave me with plenty of room to add more to the list.

Some games I might be interested in if I collected PS2. Tekken tag, Twisted Metal Black, Onimusha 2, Black, and Sly 2. Will have to try and keep them in mind if I ever go down PS2. I have a PS2 so maybe one day.

Lots of variety here. Onimusha and hot shots golf fore our standouts for me. If we were making a list of PS2 games for under $100 I would have to put God of War 2 on there. Even though it's not my favorite one, it's still really really stella. I'd have to think about it more to come up with a complete list or maybe Scott and I should just do a response video. Maybe 😊

I'd just like to add that even though Price Charting has HSG: Fore! at $6 I just picked it up for $1.50 this last week. Most of these titles can be found for even less. Great list!

I was just getting ready to start expanding my ps2 collection picking up from my childhood days, but when I dug out my old ps2 at my parents’ house, I found out the graphics chip was ruined. Still runs, but it looks like crap…nothing is playable. Such a bummer. Sly is on my list to play someday though!

The good news is you can get replacement chips to make it work - the bad news is I couldn't begin to tell you how to install one, as that's well beyond my area of expertise. I suppose barring that, the other good news is that you can get a PS2 for a fairly reasonable price still - and Sly is 100% worth your time. Just an excellent series (the collection on the PS3 plays brilliantly, if that's an option for you!)

I thought about both replacing the chip and buying another PS2 from my local retro store, but I DID opt for saving money and effort by getting PS+ Premium on my PS4. Sly and others will be getting their day! See you at the CGC next weekend!

you know, this video has made me think of giving X-2 another try, I remember renting it around the time it came out and not liking it very much because it was too different from X it's self. I think current me might vibe with the silliness more though :P

To its detriment and its benefit, it is not FFX. Its extremely corny and fundamentally simple compared to FFX (this is all while acknowledging ffx isnt exactly super difficult on its own merit haha). People that like x2 REALLY like it; and most people dont care that it exists. In a normal list, having ffx2 over ffx feels a bit haram haha. To each their own though, just recommending you dont "force" yourself to enjoy something is all.

Tank controls are for professional gamers, git gud 😂 An interesting selection of games, nice to see some "off the beaten track" titles. We didn't get greatest hits until PS3, it's black label or platinum over here.

I personally prefer GT3 over any sim racer but I can shamefully admit I've never played a Sly game....
