Simple trick to prevent warping like that is to paint the bottom edges of things like thin foam and cardboard black or with pva, so that whatever your gluing on top will fight with the bottom to warp so that it kinda warps evenly. Then when you think its fully dry, paint the rest of the bottom of your project. You can also weigh it down, though I am interested to see if the peg board idea worked that a good work aground!

The curl of the floor pieces I'm using now was a bit annoying, but I wasn't bothered because I knew I was gluing them to the peg board. The problem I had with the tower was undried glue expanding!

It takes the paper off or it gets the hose! Sorry couldn't resist that one Father Aaron! Wood glue is probably a better option to glue that stuff down with. I should say its probably more durable. Looking forward to the keep being built! Are you going to permanently attach the keep walls and structures to the boards or will you make it modular so you can use those grids for anything you want?
@TheDungeonMinister
@TheDungeonMinister 3 ай бұрын
It is more durable (though gluing foam PVA is plenty strong) but wood glue would still have the drying problem at the center of a big surface. Re: the walls...good question! Stay tuned!

When pealing that foam board I use a spray bottle and mist the edge as I peal. Can't wait to see the finished keep - are you really goona make me drive 2,400 miles? :P

Heh...no, I'll be showing it in a video. But to see it live one of us has to travel, and I'm not checking THAT as luggage! The Readiboard usually doesn't need water. Peels a treat. Someone mixed the glue too rich that day, I guess.

Taking off the glasses a lot during the work. If the project comes out askew, we will know why. The head builder was not wearing his glasses. Taking the kids books to use as weight while drying, well I never! Thanks for doing this, the videos and the construction. It helped me come to the conclusion; I will never do this. It looks like a full-time job. I already spend enough time mapping, coming up with story, new magic items, monsters, traps, something for each character, and something for each player. Then you want me to craft as well? Nope, not going to do it. I still love all The Dungeon Minister videos! When it is done, I need to know the "man hours put into this, the weight of it, the length, width, and height, and don't forget the number of days without accident." Seriously this thing is going to be massive. It may need to become the table centerpiece year-round. I do actually want to create a hex-map to use for my battle grid. I think it needs to be 1.8" (no I don't know what size that is in Canadian) hexes. Just not sure how to go about doing it. And the size may be wrong. It might need to be 2" hexes. I have to check the toys I plan on using. Probably will never happen because I am not sure how to go about it and it seems like way too much work for my ungrateful umm I mean friendly players.

Thanks and you're welcome! Glasses: I find my crafts look better just a bit blurry... I should have recorded how much time it was taking. A lot, if I'm honest. Especially the grid and texture. Oof. I have a bunch of hex tiles from the dollar store. I keep thinking I'm going to do something with them. So far, not so much.

Great vid, and remember, any progress is still progress. Yeah, doing that much grid work is tedious, but I agree with you it's still fun... those two ideas definitely can simultaneously co-exist, humans are strange creatures.
