thanks for leting me talk to you on monday. You can go home again but the journey will have changed you so home won't feel like home anymore. thats going all the way back to the heroic journey or for the LotR fans. Fredo went back to the shire, but he had been so changed by the adventure it never felt like home again for him,

Always happy to see another installment in the Honeywood Campaign, loving this series. But I wanted to ask about your hex map. What size are your hexes and do you use any specific travel procedures, like navigation, or do you more so use it for referencing distances?
@TheDungeonMinister
@TheDungeonMinister 3 ай бұрын
Thanks! When the party strikes out into territory they don't know, I use a really simple die roll mechanic to see if they stay on their intended course. I tend to be generous about this because pre-industrial cultures are generally pretty familiar with sun position and stars, and so wouldn't be as easily lost. The scale...it's entirely based on our first adventure, for which I really didn't pay a lot of attention because I didn't know how deeply into the game the boys would get! I had established that the PCs could walk from Honeywood to the first adventure site in 6 hours, and that's been the template. I sort of eyeball distances from that. I did work out km per hex at one point, but I don't recall what it was.

@@TheDungeonMinister I think it probably comes from Tolkien and the way he wrote the orcs speaking to each other, but Games Workshop's influence can't be underestimated. Peter Jackson famously used a stadium full of boozy England cricket fans to voice the Uruk-Hai army at the Battle of Helm's Deep. They're not called the Barmy Army for nothing!

A stealth mission! That’s a good call on the open hatch. The details of how the characters go about a stealth mission are important.
@TheDungeonMinister
@TheDungeonMinister Ай бұрын
Indeed! These little details do matter! Interestingly, they seemed to want to keep anyone from knowing they'd been there even AFTER they were done and gone...which wasn't really required, but added some interest. And thanks!

A turkey named Larry? In turkey chapter, is that a new cult? Are you the head of the club, err cult, father? Where is that wizard face from? Is it from BECMI? I know I have seen it before however, I don't recall from where. Wait a minute, your son is a thief? I thought your wife was the thief of the group. Told you D&D was evil. I hope you have a talk with him outside of the game about how stealing is wrong. As soon as you said, "Near the coast as you get closer" I knew there would be a cliff (on the coast) hanger. I love every The Dungeon Minister videos.

The wizard's face is, indeed, from BECMI. The Companion book, I think. Yeah, Touchberry just wanted to use his stealth, having employed it so successfully at the Goblin camp. The ham was almost secondary. Almost!

Hello Father Aaron. Ah! the Ole frail Wizard who is secretly powerfull, and only talks in jokes and riddles trick . lol Great Fun Father. The term you used for a Chapter not moving the story along is new to me. Would that apply to any Book or Novel?
@TheDungeonMinister
@TheDungeonMinister 3 ай бұрын
Thanks! My only actual encounter with the term intercalary chapters is Grapes of Wrath, but yes it applies across anything with chapters. Intercalary days are days inserted into the calendar to make them harmonize (February 29th, for instance) which is peculiar since those specifically DO affect the larger whole.
