Thank you for a video like this, I am as green as they come but I ended up buying a 69 Camaro, hoping to get my feet wet into the hobby

I know this is a older video now, but another tip when taping off the engine block is using a soft rubber/plastic mallet and bang the edges of the tapped area to be able to peel it off. Follows the edge nicely.

Great videos…. Just wondering….. did you forget to install the timing chain tensioner.. didn’t see it installed before you installed the front cover.😮
@ChrisSullivan69 Жыл бұрын
It's on there. More of a damper in the ls3 motors as opposed to a tensioner

@@ChrisSullivan69 okay just checking… I built a 416 stroker out of a L92 , installed into my 81 Turbo Trans Am.. I used the summit pro LS 416 stroker rotation assembly . Forged pistons,rods and crankshaft . Had the block bored to 4.070 decked and ARP screw in studs. BTR Stage 2 NA cam.

Hi Chris. That's a very nice cam from Brian Tooley Racing. When removing carbon from top of the pistons you were using a vac. I learned a neat trick to prevent any carbon getting between piston and cylinder walls by using a wax string. Just when you brought the piston to TDC squeeze a wax string between the piston and cylinder wall and that will prevent any carbon material from lodging itself between piston and cylinder wall plus you don't have to run the vac constantly. Great video and thanks for posting

I wouldn't have thought it was warm enough outside to paint. Maybe it was okay to do because the block had been warm from being inside and you just had spray fast? I had to go back to the 10:20 mark and do a few re-listens to the ZO6. 😉😉 Your methodicalness (my word) if you will in disassembly and reassembly is more than worthy of note. You could have a side-business in just selling "Sullivan Built Engines" always in stock and will build to suit. I'm not a fan of blue, nut it's a big yes to the blue for the Camaro. Save the Wave🙋♂

What's the name of the green plastic you use to protect the paint on the Camaro grill/fenders?

Carpet protector. Available at the big box stores like lowes and home depot

Speed Engineering LS swap headers or their 67-69 camaro swap headers? They look like they fit nice.

When checking pushrod length, do you torque your new cylinder head to spec or do you finer tighten the cylinder head and then check pushrod length?
@ChrisSullivan69 Жыл бұрын
Pushrod length should be checked with the heads torqued. Or, with no head gasket and the head loosely bolted on. Then add you compressed head gasket thickness
