I just got the Zf with the 40. I also picked up the 50mm 1.8S and the 85mm 1.8S. I can’t decide on my next lens and whether it’s going to be the 35 1.8 S or the 28 2.8 SE. It’s likely going to be the little 28 since I already have Fuji X100 V which gives me that 35mm focal length. Also, I love the little 28 mm and your review of it is very good.

That’s a great kit to start with! I’d say go for the 28mm f/2.8 SE since that will cover your wide angle needs, it’s just as good as the 40mm f/2 and is a great little lens for travel!

I switched from Sony specifically to shoot with sharp, lightweight, and pro build quality primes. The 20/1.8, 35/1.8, 50/1.8, and 70-180/2.8 on 2 Z9’s make up my working kit. The Zf and 28/2.8 and 40/2 are my personal daily carry.

That’s a great kit! I have two ZF camera and love using them for either paid work or for fun stuff like street photography. I might swap one ZF out for a Z6 III or save up and re buy a Z8.
@drbubble332 ай бұрын
@ silent shooting with no banding issues on the Z8/Z9 is worth the upgrade alone. You won’t get that on the Z6iii since it has a slower sensor readout speed. Also, being able to shoot 20mp in DX crop mode adds even more usability to the 85 and 70-180. For anyone concerned, yes 20mp is plenty for paid work. My career started at just 12mp and I spent 10 years shooting a 16mp camera (Canon 1Dx) for commercial marketing campaigns, news, and magazines. High MP has its use, but it’s not a requirement.

@@drbubble33 yeah the Z8 might be the move for me. I had one early this year and sold it to fund a project and switch to Sony for a bit. Eventually sold off Sony and went back to Nikon. Picked ZF since it’s so versatile and doesn’t break bank.

Hello David, What is the baseplate on your Zf, please?
@dlovisuals2 ай бұрын
Currently I’m using the Nikon x SmallRig base plate. Neewer also makes one that adds a red strip to front of grip, has a thumb rest and is $20 cheaper.

My ZF kit is a voigtlander 50 F/1.0, nikon 28mm 2.8 and nikon 40mm F/2. I shoot a Z8 also if I need it.
@dlovisuals2 ай бұрын
Def looking at adding a Z8 at some point to round out the kit!

The Z8 is awesome if you plan to use it fully. Like I would have never purchased it if a ZF and Z6iii were already available when it came out. I was trying to get a successor to my Z6 and the z6ii wasn't it, so more of an impulse buy that I find myself trying to justify the use of it by kitting it out for video work, although I am a still shooter. I use my ZF 80% of the time. I am learning davinci resolve now though.

I bought the zf just to use the voigtlander 40mm 1.2. Even though I’ve picked up the 26mm 2.8 and the 35mm 1.8 I hardly use them. I’m a Olympus/OM Systems user for my main system. Few times I’ve done a concert the Olympus 75mm (equivalent 150mm) 1.8 is spectacular for low light situations.

Long tele photo primes are so much fun to use for concerts. I was lucky enough to have tried the 135mm f/1.8 Plena for music work and it was 🤌🏻🤌🏻

I find all those lenses too big and not matching the beauty of the camera. With those lenses I'd go for a Nikon with better grip. I'll only use voigtländer 40mm1.2 and Thypoch 28mm1.4 with the ZF.

Came to same conclusion...also OM/Zf user 😊

Quiubo parcero! In my zf for now I use a viltrox 16 1.8 (fantastic), a 20 mm afd adapted (it has that something that fascinates me) , a viltrox 24 1.8 (does its job) , nikon 40 (when not working it stays attached to the zf), nikon 50 1.8 Z (the best lens). Soon I am thinking of buying a 28-75 (better the G2 than the nikkor?) and I would like the laowa 20 shift! Thanks for. the video!

Quiubo! Yes I would get the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G over the Nikon version because it’s much newer and cheaper. The Nikon version is a rebadged Tamron G1. However, the Nikon 28-75 is often on sale for around $800.

In actual use on paid professional shoots, it’s never been an issue. I often shoot either handheld video or on a gimbal.
