I have to admit the music during assembly kept putting me to sleep, but the memories you made with her will last a lifetime! Great looking sled too!

Love the music. Very relaxing and goes along with that sweet father/daughter bond. I was a workshop brat growing up and many of my best memories are from building things with my dad. Oddly, the hat hanging on your shop door is exactly like my dads shop hat. Another cool note, my youngest son made long boards in my shop when he was a kid. He's a carpenter now on the west coast with a young son. Back here in the east I'm about to mill up some ash logs at a friends house from storm damage. (chainsaw mill then bandsaw at home) My toboggan dream has come true! A perfect opportunity to get quarter sawn green ash. Thank you for the inspiration! Between the 2 videos and the stove pipe insulated steam box idea I learned quite a bit.

This made me very happy brother. You've come a long way from building longboards in the garage, yet is still seems to bring you the same joy. This platform is very suited to you: your editing and style has really grown into exactly how you used to talk about doing this. You nailed it. If you stick with it your channel will explode, and I wish you all the tenacity and success in the world.

Wow it's been a long time hasn't it? Now that I think about it I've never done a build video of a longboard. I probably know more about that than any of this other stuff I've been building. That's a good idea. You always have such good ideas. Thanks

And I second that! You are truly blessed to have a brother that is smart and a very good craftsman. I have enjoyed watching his KZbin seasons and family grow up. Most importantly, how he includes Lucy in to his hobby. I did the same thing with my daughter, who is now 31 years old and just married. Katie grew up to be a beautiful, well-rounded, well-grounded and talented woman. She still remembers things that we did together, which really solidified our very strong father-daughter relationship. I wish you all the blessings in the world on your adventurous journey with your family.

Enjoyed this! Next one try doweling the holes in the bottom and a 45 degree on the trailing edge for less drag.

Nice job on the 'sled' or a toboggan? Doesn't matter to me. I grew up in Iowa and everyone called it a sled. Whether a toboggan or a saucer disc or a railed sled. I really enjoy your videos. Especially how you include the family in them. Keep up the good work, your vids are really improving. And I am actually learning things (wood working is not my strong suit!).

Thanks for the question. I think it was Ash. I don't really remember for sure. Generally hardwoods are going to bend easier then softwoods

What are you doing at the 16:20 mark?
@WyldeWoodworks5 жыл бұрын
Good question. I was wondering if people would understand what that was. I was rubbing a paraffin wax on the bottom of the sled and then melting it to fill all of the remaining voids and make the sled quicker.
@cantankeroushousewife29424 жыл бұрын
@@WyldeWoodworks I guessed at that, I'm glad I was right. My kids asked what you were doing. I said "it looks like he's waxing the sled, it will make it move faster on the snow, but also adds an extra layer of protection. That's paraffin something my grandma used to seal her water color paintings." I'm so glad I was right. Beautiful work, and wonderful memories for you and the girls.
