@@marioskapetanakis Have you tried it? I spent hours trying to recreate my local go kart track. The road kept warping and creating huge holes in the ground. Managed to fix a hole and a new one would pop up. Adding the pits ended up being a nightmare as well. The pit entry twisted around itself. And the pit exit somehow ended up creating a 1m bump (more like a wall). Exporting the track after finally managing to iron out the worst bumps ended in a track assetto corsa woldn't accept and a project that was corrupted. Wouldn't you get discouraged?

My daughters and I are currently building a slot car track together. As we come from a long line of proud Texans, we took the time to come up with Texas-themed names for all of our turns. The two main straights are named after Carroll Shelby and A. J. Foyt. Except for tire sponsors and the like, all of our track sponsors are also Texas based companies. This part of the project was surprisingly engaging for my girls and it turned the project away from just crafting and made it into a history lesson for the girls. I found out just how little my girls are learning in their history classes, and I got to introduce them to some neat places and historical events along the way. Having named curves makes it far easier for my daughters to follow races on TV, but it’s downright invaluable on a slot car track. They struggle with remembering turn numbers, but when you name them it just sticks. The same is true for adult race fans, we just don’t realize it.

This looks like a lot of things, but certainly not like a first attempt. The transformation from barren wasteland to actual track is stunning! Seeing all the subtle height changes and camber in the road, I imagine this might be a challenging track. I'd love to drive some laps there. Not only hotlaps, but an actual race. There's enough width to this track to see overtaking/defending action all over the place. Hat's off to you, it is magnificent!

But after seeing this, I promptly re-installed RTB and continued where I left off (I quickly ended up starting from scratch) But now I have 2 tracks under my belt, plus another 2 in the works, and yes theres the RTB stigma, but I've had remarkable amounts of good feedback. Hearing comments of peoples memories of one of the old, permanently closed tracks I built is really heartwarming, and makes me love the racing community further.

Im a 2000's kid. Back in the 80's, California had Ontario Motor Speedway which would have been my local race track. I always loved the idea of a racetrack which was certified for Formula 1, IndyCar, NASCAR, and NHRA drag racing. Unfortunately it ran very few events in the short decade it was open. This gives me some hope in finding a way to drive something that somewhat resembles the track.

There’s a potential layout here in Easton, Pa that I’ve come to be aware of over the years that I think would be pretty amazing if I could do it enough justice. There’d be three long straights, plenty of sweepers, left and right, several hairpins or near hairpins, one of them murderous, and lots and lots of elevation changes. The scenery could be awesome, too, running from countryside to neighborhoods and back, with two rivers thrown in for good measure. I’ve pondered it idly for a long time, tweaking it in my mind, and this video makes me think I just might be able to do it, after all. Certainly I’ve got enough time on my hands these days.

I'm sure you have a better perspective on making a race track for a game than the rest of us after this outing, but you did give us a glimpse of what it would take. GJ

Can KZbin PLEASE provide a 'multiple likes' button - this deserves more than just 1 ffs - amazing work Chris, this is next level stuff! Look forward to seeing it finished and released via good ol' Race Department! Then we all jump onto a grid together. Incredible stuff.

First, congratulations! You put a dream into er.... virtual reality. Very cool idea, and a huge effort. But that is one SERIOUSLY wide race track.

This makes a lot of sense, what’s the point of having an airport that no one uses and no one cares about? Nice video and nice work

This is so cool! Such an amazing passion project, it is clear you put your Hearth and soul into it. I am extremely curious as to what the opinions of other sim racers are. So here’s hoping on a public release. Cheers buddy!

If Blackbushe really became a racetrack then I'd have somewhere within an hour of my house to go on a track day. If only! Looks great.

Do you think its possible to add the concrete Plates from the original airfield into some parts of your track? I think it would make the track more substantial to have Different grip levels and surfaces. I wish it would be possible to just rent a laser Scanner and let the Tool build the surface 1 to 1 from the original. But i Guess its pretty hard to process the huge amounts of data comming from the laser Scanner. Anyway its really cool that you could made the track of your childhood and inspire me to Do the same. Really good job buddy! I hope we will see more of the track
