I've been watching your videos while I finish up my (first) quilt project, and I've been so impressed by your crastmanship, design thinking, attention to detail, and video quality! But this video is the one that got me to comment -- organizing fussy little squares/triangles into a larger pattern is exactly what you do with quilting too. I've been thinking, "wow, it's so impressive that he can do all this design and math, I could never" and then I realized how similar a woodwork and fabric project could be. (Well, yours is levels above.) If you're ever interested in quilting I think you have the perfect soft skillset! Regardless of if you are, it's fun to see how a similar design process can factor into wildly different crafts. Anyway, it's so enjoyable watching an artist of this caliber work :-) can't wait to watch the rest of your channel

New wood worker here, First video I stumble across from your channel, and let me tell you the amount of work and detail that goes into the presentation and excecution of the video is simply stunning. Literally felt an emotional tear drop at the end, And this is a video on how to make a jewelary box. not only is the craftsmenship on the piece stunning, but the story telling, music, sound design, narration, camera work, all just comes together so masterfully. As a fellow filmmaker and music composer/musician whos recently found a passion for woodworking, I take my hat off before you, Shocked you havent grown to a million followers by now with such craft. Inspiration is oozing down my veins after watching this, very well done!

Very Impressive. After 31 years owning an industrial piping company I'm closing down and becoming a hobbyist wood worker at 77 yo. Like much of life all the mistakes I make along the way is the training in an attempt to even come close to your level of excellence. Enjoyed the video and will subscribe.
@pippadawg7037 Жыл бұрын
It is absolutely exquisite. Oddly enough I collect jewelry boxes and have a lot of opinions about them. The fact that you made it to fit standard jewelry trays means that any future owner can easily reconfigure it with new inserts. A man could be refit it for cufflinks rather than rings. Most women have more jewelry than it could begin to contain or organize, but it would be perfect for a person with a more limited collection. Because I own so many, I prefer jewelry boxes with drawers so I can stack them on top of each other and I don't have to shuffle them to get to my pieces, but there is something so elegant about lift out trays. They always reminds me of the trays of "diamond" jewelry in To Catch a Thief.

Finally watched the video all the way through and picked up a few pointers to use in my own shop. One being the cutting of the veneer using a combo of the table saw and the bandsaw. Never crossed my feeble mind. Also very gratifying to see someone else using tape to prevent glue problems and then a chisel to finish the job. The damp rag routine simply smears glue everywhere. Thank you for the clean and clear presentation. As soon as I get several other projects out of the way, I plan on trying my hand on a similar box. You have at least one new fan and subscriber.

Very nice work indeed. I have made very many boxes using all different techniques and all kinds of wood but never the diamond patterns. Perhaps one for the future. I particularly like the combination of machinery and hand tools: each where it makes sense and each to their strengths. I always line my boxes with leather -usually pig suede. Those ring holders are easy to make if you something non standard or want the coverings to match. I would say to anyone that if you follow the care and skill shown here, then you will produce fine items.
