I grew up in Tok, A.K., and we built some secret ramps in the late 80s to early 90s. There was a ramp built in Dot Lake at a children's home there and a ramp on base in Delta Junction. We also converted various sites for skating such as a steel water containment system they pulled out of the ground next to the volunteer fire dept. Since much of our time was spent learning in garages I glad to see someone building a facility like this. This was pre-snowboarding once came along and only a few others kept skating all the others went to the snow.

Yoooo…that dude Alex is the man! And every time I see footy of people living this way…it really makes me question my own life choices. I could only dream of feeling as free as Alex obviously does. But as an OG skater, it’s super uplifting & inspiring to see that there are people out there who are living their true lives.

Years ago I met a really good white Alaskan skateboarder in Hilo Hawaii at our local DIY spot called Shaka Paka. Now I know why he is so good. The skateboard scene in Alaska is thriving! 😊❤

Have you considered buying scrap boats, hauling them up, restoring them so that you could rent them out as Air B&Bs at a location like this? Doug Stanhope talks a lot about The Shady Dell in Bisbee, AZ. Basically a small trailer park made out of old boats, that may no longer be seaworthy.

Yeah man, I grew up with Baker and BAM and Pissdrunks and that whole lifestyle really fucked me up in a lot of ways from a young age. I remember playing edward-40-hands during games of skate at like 17 years old. Certainly some good times were had, but it took me a long time to get out of drugs and drinking. Now I have two sons and there's no way in hell I want them going through that lol
@offgridskater12 күн бұрын
Yeah it “cool” at first but eventually it gets old and then life become really cool when you just live it without being inebriated through it.
@MiloTheCat795 күн бұрын
@@offgridskaterYeah…it’s cool right up until the moment it ain’t…right? The moment the addiction kicks in…everything else in your life suffers. Including skateboarding. (At least IMO). Yeah…I remember skating on many drugs back in the day…& some of those times were hella fun…& maybe I even learned something. But in the long run…what I had to sacrifice in order to live that evil lifestyle…& the MANY negative consequences I had to deal with certainly wasn’t worth any of it..:-(
