Getting the hatch 100% done and aligned was my biggest worry and now that it is done and ready for primer with the rest of the car I can't wait. On another note after the first coat of primer I will get the front and rear subframes fabbed up to incorporate all of the trackhawk suspension.

Maybe go with servo linear actuators instead of struts on the hatch. That way you can have a kick sensor and auto open/close.
@haphazard1342
@haphazard1342 3 жыл бұрын
Given the geometry and the size of the rear hatch that's going to be a huge amount of force. Even with a carbon version. Probably need to keep struts in there to make the weight neutral, then add a linear actuator to actually move it. Come to think of it I don't think any OEM uses linear actuators for this though. Would be super cool to make something out of Dodge original parts off another chassis.

hey, Dave! idk if you're aware of this, but when body shops paint cars in light colors such as yellow, red, orange and even blue, they often use a primer with a little bit of pigmentation of the color you're gonna be painting it with. it helps a ton to spot imperfections and helps with paint coverage as well. if it helps you, the guys in my country from a shop called Tonimek (they're on KZbin as well) have shown quite a few examples of this and many other tricks. have a nice weekend! cheers

Dave, if the cf hatch is going to be much lighter I wouldn’t use the struts anyway. Avoid stressing the strut mounts by fitting a couple of top-locking hinges ( like a type of hood hinge/ picnic table type locking struts) without spring pressure, then lift the rear hatch manually......) just a thought...😊 keep well buddy,

I always finish my filler work in 220-320 grit, 180 at the least before high build. It really helps keep the shrink back from showing deep scratches and then block my high build with 320 and then a second shot of high build that again I block with 320 and finish to a 500-600 grit. You definitely want to knock the 80 grit points off with at least 180 before primer in my opinion, nonetheless it looks amazing and can’t wait to see it all one color.

Just found this series today and watched the whole thing from the start. Absolutely fantastic work you're doing here. The only thing that didn't seem up to the overall standard was just hammering that extra flange on the fuel filler housing. Couldn't have trimmed it? But that's my only nitpick on this whole build. Brilliant work.
