@H3aven-v1n5 жыл бұрын
I got mine 1 month ago! You'll see it is a super cool feeling but just one advice ...wear flat shoes and shin protection because you will probably slip off the pedals often and those pins on the pedals just cut through your skin like it is nothing. Believe me they are really nasty and kind of ruin your whole trialday(and your leg looks like you just got through ww3). But otherwise I hope you have fun like I do on your new trials bike 💪

You should get a pipe cutter for cutting things like seatposts, bars and steerer tubes. The give a really clean cut and are very easy to use
@imnotgivingmynametoamachine6836 жыл бұрын
I've used a mid-grade hardware store one for cutting down my fork and my seatpost and it worked great, I'm not sure why anyone would use a hacksaw or any other kind of saw. A round file helps to clean it up a little after in case its a little sharp.
@alexevans16556 жыл бұрын
Luke Rice yeah they are pretty good, I have also seen people just file them on concrete 😂
@LorenzoDeprado6 жыл бұрын
Yup. Just cut my bars with a 22 dollar pipe cutter. It only took less than 10 minutes for each side and produced a clean cut that barely needed to be filed down. Less important to have a clean cut on the seatpost but still a great investment! It also takes way, way, way less effort.
@frankanon76936 жыл бұрын
Pipe cutter isn't going to work on the thick seat posts and steerer tubes on these inspired parts 6mm thick compared to thin ones on suspension forks.

I'm glad you included the trick of attaching the syringe to the lever to get the rest of the air out. For those that have Shimano brakes, Shimano recommends the pull and hold method to get the air bubbles out. Pull the lever in, hold for 2 seconds, release and flick the brake line. Keep repeating until no more bubbles can be seen.

For foam grips you should use the ziptie trick. Put about 6 or so zipties inside the grip, spaced out around the grip, and slide the grip onto the bar. When you have it where you want it, pull out the zipties. Super easy and effective.

For bending the metal, I recommend first heating it with a blowtorch, makes bending more forgivable.
@grahamleach96396 жыл бұрын
Hi Ali, do you have gas or electric hobs in the flat as you could use these to heat the metal.
@ruaridhsutcliffe17746 жыл бұрын
When you heat the metal up, because of the heat, it may become more brittle. Cold worked metal lasts longer than heat treated. 👍🏻
@Anon.G6 жыл бұрын
Ruardidh that is simply untrue. we are not heat treating the metal we are simply warming up the metal into a softer state. If it was previously heat treated then the metal won't be as strong, but about as brittle, the non heat treated metal will be more likely to get bent.

21.56 lbs in old money (as Steve Matchett would say). That's pretty darned light. You should definitely invest in a torque wrench (and a vice and a pipe cutter). And as a note for general bike stand use, if you have a more delicate frame keeping an old seat post around to use during a build is a good way to go. Insert it and clamp to it instead of the frame tube. Probably not an issue on a burly street trials frame, but a good habit to get into. Thanks for the video!

Why do "modern" trial bikes use left hand lever for rear brake, and vice versa? We always used right hand for rear brake. Sweet ride! =) Cheers!
@Metal-Possum4 жыл бұрын
Nothing to do with the type of bike it is, entirely to do with the country the person grew up in. Left hand rear brake is common motorcycles, with the right hand for the clutch, but it's also got something to do with the side of the road we ride our bikes on in the UK, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, etc. My best argument is that I'm right handed, good to have that extra modulation on my front brake, as well as being able to feather my back brake but still use my right arm for signalling in busy traffic. Left hand turn signals are less important. I think we're the ones doing it right, and the rest of the world has got it wrong, even if they're a majority.

@frankanon76936 жыл бұрын
Ali Clarkson at least you tried it. Always found it strange everyone ran the same set up on all the inspired bikes regardless of height etc. Experiment it's only a ride or two and maybe stuff is better.
@jesse-dg8yx6 жыл бұрын
With the seat post needing about 2 inches in the frame that's when it has an extra 3 inches length and 3 inches extra leverage to put more force on it. In reality when running a seat as low as possible like that I would say you'll be good with about 3/4 inch to an inch in the frame because there is so much less leverage on it. That's just my suggestion and what I would probably do but it's up to you at end of the day and if it breaks then it breaks because they do have that line for a reason. When weight is everything some people will go that far though. Sometimes I see kids at skateparks with their scooter bars only like 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch in the clamp to make their bars taller and I once saw a kids bars just fall out, they didn't snap they just fell out.

I've seen it working well for a lot of people (been watching some Ben Cathro videos recently but a lot of USA based youtubers as well), I would love to see you able to branch out and do more stuff that would be easier if you have some additional funding. What bolt did you use to let the front brake hose through the stem?
@bmxriderforlife12345 жыл бұрын
unlikely with your seat that low but always make sure when cutting a seatpost that the bottom of the post clears the lower welds for your toptube. especially if you run your seat raised at all. if you dont there is an increased risk of breaking your frame.
