Hey, another thing that will help with the longevity of the machine is a dedicated ground. Drill a hole through the concrete floor, pound a grounding rod in there and connect the chassis of the table to it. After burning up about 4 controllers in our plasmacam table, we did that and it stopped frying them AND it helped with the communication issues we were having. The plasma cutter does some wild things to electronics at random times. Works great for years then one day BAM! fries a computer or a controller or communication issues, etc. So even if you have a good ground at your electrical box, a dedicated ground improves things immensely.
@BretBerger
@BretBerger Жыл бұрын
If you do that I think NEC wants to see this ground bonded to the building's electrical system ground. You want all grounds at the same potential.
@melgross
@melgross 9 ай бұрын
That’s interesting that you were able to do that. The work clamps going to the plasma table isn’t a ground, though most people call it that. It’s a live connection to the plasma cutter. If the table chassis is then grounded, the work clamp will be commented to ground. That will blow the plasma. The same problem with welders. I don’t know how you were able to ground the table, or did you just do that to the electrical ground coming from the electronics?

Great table build Austin! Great attention to detail. I'm a tool guy. Always have been. Recently I've immersed myself into the CNC world.....3d printer, laser engraver, CNC router, and just put together a Langmuir Crossfire Pro. I built a framework incorporating a harbor freight five drawer cart with a water holding tank under the table. I have learned a tremendous amounts from KZbin vids like yours and so grateful for them. The tip about the USB may come in handy for sure. From what I've gathered, mill scale isn't hardened, it's actually soft. Went it gets heated, it just kinda moves around. I've found a stripper disk works on some. most of the brackets for my 67 Camaro resto-mod build, I've soaked in a white vinegar solution for a day. The mill scale just melts off. Be rather a tough solution on the table build, but smaller parts vinegar works good. Mostly for rough mig welding that isn't structurally related, I just burn through it. For tig...it's a no-go, but large builds probably wouldn't be tig welding anyway. Again thanks for your content.

Austin, have watched other vids but I digress, THIS video and build is nothing short of genius and awesome. I absolutely love the underside structure and overall build formula of this table. I honestly do not know if this table could ever warp unless it was heated up by an atomic blast. Rock solid, look stunningly aggressive and well constructed. I think ANYONE who watches you build has an honest desire to actually HAVE one of these. Damn nice, no shit...

For clamp holding, cut another smaller plate with the same hole size as the table but closer together. All the clamps can just standup on the plate and take up a lot less space, then you can weld that plate anywhere you need/want

Very nice design. It’s the best design of this type I’ve seen, including the Certiflat. Yes, they have the slots and tabs, but it’s not really more work to put together the way you did it. I just question the 2.5” hole spacing as you can’t use it with fixtures that require 2 inch spacing.

@jwiereng

What factors did you consider that lead you to use 2.5 inch hole spacing?
@melgross
@melgross 9 ай бұрын
I was wondering about that too. There are many fixtures that work with either 2 inch spacing, or 50mm spacing. None can be used with this if they require two holes, as many do.

Congrats dude. I built a welding table a few years ago based on the TFS guy. Its 3ft x 5ft with end extensions out to 8ft and uses 3” x 1” rectangle tubes which are welded with angle iron in sections of 3 tubes so that you can remove sections of the table as needed for any project. Its what many people build when they don’t have a plasma CNC 😂.

Austin, this table is bad to the bone! I like the extension and the vise mount. Question: are the plans you're selling something i could use to order from send-cut-send? I dont have access to a plasma table. I suppose I could aak around and see if anyone I know from work either has one or knows someone, but the SCS idea just hit me while watching the build video. I dont even know if send cut send is cost effective. The other thing i guess is calling a couple metal suppliers and asking them.

Very satisfying build Austin. Well done. You'll want that 120VAC to 12VDC power supply enclosed in something. Otherwise grinding dust will accumulate inside and cause mayhem.

I looked at your material list. The concern I have with a 1/4-in top is that when you used clamps got them tight and tight do they warp the holes since there's only a quarter inch thickness and you put like tension on the clamp. My concern is that it will oblong or warp out the hole. What's your experience with that?.

Also what machine torch are you using and are you using shielded or nonshielded tips? Thanks Dean

Awesome job, Austin. Is the raw voltage wiring still working good for you? If so, I hope that it will continue to, and that the Primeweld won’t give you any more grief. As for me, my new Everlast 62i is going to be here today. I can’t wait to see if this thing solves my problems. I can’t believe that TWO Primeweld Cut60’s burned up for me in less than a month.
