I bought the spitfire a few years ago as my first model and gave up near the end of the fuselage as was so confused as to what to do and in fact had made mistakes earlier in the build due to some guesses, felt like was totally on my own. Noticed you had a really good video, watched and nearly bought another one. Have decided to make this one first as it seems a bit simpler and really enjoying it so far. Not looking forward to the tissue part but your video has gave me a lot of confidence. Thank you as you may have started a new hobby for me.

I finished the plane today. Looks really good, just need to get something like lead shot to balance it. Thank you for the help and the video which gave me a lot more confidence that I was doing the right thing. Already looking forward to the next one.

Your attention to detail is amazing Rob!! Your choice of Classical Music is quite soothing as well. 😉 I see also that Model Railways have lent a bit! Track Nails? Brilliant! Mine will be looking like an Aeroplane soon... Carmine ✈🚂🚙

The Nose Cone alone is Art!

Wow thanks Carmine. I have to be honest and say I thought this nose cone was one of the easiest to shape for me. Those Peco track pins are so thin I thought they were ideal to pin through the wider bits of balsa without damaging them too much.

Another remarkable build Rob and as for scoring that wafer thin delicate canopy - I'm amazed you didn't cut it. Proper skillful. A beauty of a plane.....👍👍.

Honestly Cosmo I did both scores on the first go, can't remember now if I showed it all but it took quite a few as you say delicate cuts to get it so it would bend. Thanks for watching and the great comment mate

Thanks Charlie. Me and Mark keep talking about trying to use my Tamiya Land Rover to tow it into the air but weather and wind are a big problem here in the city lol.

Hello Rob. After I sprayed the tail fin, it looks like the tissue has touched together in a couple places. I possibly got it too wet. Do you know if there is a fix or do I have to take the cover off and start again? Appreciate any advice you could give.

Hi. I have also done this a time or two but after several attempts I unfortunately ended up cutting the tissue out and recovering. There may be a way to do it but I am not aware sorry.

@Rob Brennan RC Thank you very much for the answer, will try again. Did the tail fin first as a test and then did a mistake that couldn't be done on the bigger parts. Oh well, live and learn 🙂

Really a Beaut!! Is that actually a Chuck Glider? Meant to Fly?
@robbrennanbalsawoodplanes5 жыл бұрын
Yes but they recommend either a elastic or tow launch. Me and Mark keep talking about trying to tow it into the air with my Tamiya Land Drover but alas so far the weather man he says 'No' lol.

Promised myself I was buying no more glider kits! Curse you internet I must build this.
