Thanks Rob, didn't have a set of instructions so this was very helpful, just the wing to build now and the Cessna will be almost ready to Go!

Wow Rob that was a long process, especially having to do prep work on top. You are very patient as this would drive me mad. But it's the individual passion for a model that carries us through. Great upload as always.

Yes it was a lot longer than some of the other builds with all that prep work. I find it quite therapeutic and keeps me out of trouble, well it did till I started on my sisters house lol.

Hi, first of all I want to thank you for showing us this great tutorial... congratulations! Do I need to ask what you painted or prepared the y and z covering parts of the model's nose with? thank you

That was WAY more fiddly than I thought!!! At first I thought you were applying Tissue SECTION BY SECTION!! 😳😳😖 Glad it was just the few around the Landing Gear. The Cowling solved a mystery I had... I did not know HOW you were going to get those curves, without any stringers. It really looks good!!
@robbrennanbalsawoodplanes5 жыл бұрын
Yes I think you could do the whole bit around the wheels in one but it looked easier to do in two parts following the instructions.

I'm sure you COULD... But I'm also certain that you would never be content with the results.

I had a kit once , a large glider with a flat tear shape fuselage 2-3 round holes in the "cockpit" for lead and a double dihedral wing and I believe it had a yellow.black paint scheme.Had to be a european or russian made kit, it was my first one and I never finish it. I like to do it now.Maybe one could recommend a similar one...

Hi Rob, you are very talented and I have learned a lot from this new video format which includes commentary. The earlier format with just music was good and I learned some great tips from those, but this is a great improvement because of your voice comments. I am currently building a VMC Tiger Moth and have completed the upper and lower wings, centre section and fuselage. I have been dreading the landing gear and my nose block is not exactly a work of art. I wish I had found your videos earlier! I find the jig for setting dihedral on the wings a bit imprecise. I would prefer to have a height above the horizontal to set the wing tip to and then set the wing root rib vertically to that (if that makes any sense), rather than using the jig to set the angle of the wing root rib against the wing pinned to the board. Do you have any advice?
@robbrennanbalsawoodplanes5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim. Sorry for the delay in replying but I have very limited access to YT at the moment. I do agree with you about the dihedral jig. You could contact VMC and ask them what the angle is on the DG or measure it with a protractor and measure the length of the wing then draw it out on a piece of paper to get a triangle and should give you the height the wing should be at to then mount the root rib vertically. Other than that I would suggest you check out this forum www.hippocketaeronautics.com One of the members on this forum is the guy who designed the VMC Tiger Moth and I'm sure if you join and ask the question mentioning it's to do with a VMC kit he will reply. Sorry I can't be of more help but I am fairly new to plane building myself as I've only been building them for a couple of years. Thanks for watching and for your great comment

Hi Rob, I have found the dihedral from the official DH Tiger Moth manual. Top wing is 2 degrees, which on the model is .75 cm at the tip, along the main spar. Bottom wing is 4 degrees, which is 1.5 cm at the tip along the spar in the Vintage Model Company model.

I've finished all the wooden parts and found the instructions about covering to be a little confusing so thanks very much for this which has set me straight. A quick question if I may. On their shop the only glue stick they sell is an uhu one but will prit or supermarket glue sticks do the job?
@robbrennanrc8 ай бұрын
Hi. Thanks for watching and yes any glue stick will do. I use some non branded ones bought from a small shop that sells lots of stuff really cheap.
